Red Marks That Were Never Pimples?

Hello all. I've been on the regimen for about 3 months now. My acne didn't start until my 20s, and although I did have a few ugly breakouts a month, most of my issue has been hyperpigmentation (when I did have zits, I never picked them, I just let them be until they went away). I don't really know what happened, but all of a sudden, I started getting crazy red marks on my skin that look like acne marks, but were never zits. The regimen has cleared the few ugly pimples that I did get, but the red marks are still there and don't seem to be getting any better. I guess my question is, are they still considered acne marks if I never had an apparent, active pimple? Has anyone else had this experience? Will the regimen help clear up the marks?

By the way, on the pictures you can see that I still have some flakiness, even after using the Regimen for 3 months... the moisturizer works well some days, but sometimes it does not.. If anyone has some tips on that, that'd be great too!

I'd appreciate any response/input. Thank you!

The red marks could be from a lot of things.. I get irritation on the side of my face whenever I sleep on my side. For the dry flaky skin I would highly recommend trying bio-oil - it will leave your skin moisturized for 12 hours at least and won't leave behind any residue the moisturizers do, it will also help heal your skin, hope this helps!

I placed my order for the jojoba oil right after I made that post, so I will give that a try and see how it goes. Otherwise, I'll look into bio-oil. Thanks for the recommendation!

I'm facing the similar situation as you and have been using jojoba oil to cleanse my face for 4 months. Jojoba oil will help hydrate your skin from all the harsh acne products used. It controlled my breakout but I'm left with nasty red marks that look like rosacea, making me look like i have chickenpox on my face :( I'm just praying that time will slowly heal these marks. Hope you find a solution and do share with me.

I had to (unfortunately) stop the Regimen for a few days. After my original post, my skin got so dry and would burn all day, I was on the verge of breaking down at work. I'm taking a few days off and then probably starting again with a lesser amount of BP, because it was so unbelievably drying and awful, even if it was stopping the few break outs I'd get. I realized that my skin is less red when I don't use the BP, but this could be because the BP is so drying, or because it's working but I just haven't really noticed since I'm always putting it on... I don't know. Are you still using the other Regimen products? Have your break outs completely stopped? If I find a better solution to the marks I will let you know...

My breakouts haven't completely stopped. I still get a few pimples/acne every few weeks but has been much better controlled. I bought my jojoba oil on organic online store. At times, I find that using jojoba oil makes my face feels greasy, and I don't exactly know whether it helps, but I would say, it's much better than the past when I wasn't using it. I do not have bumps on my face now. It did a great job in unclogging my pores but haven't been effectively removing my redness. As my skin is now sensitive and acne-prone, I'm very cautious in putting chemicals on my face.

If possible, do avoid BP! In the past, I've been using BP which was present in small amount in my moisturizer on a daily basis without knowing it exists. My skin was flawless that time. It might be thinning my skin making it vulnerable to acne, resulting my current condition I swear by drying lotion for use on the nasty acne to help draw out the pus. Recently, I also found a HG item from La Roche Posay (Efflaclar Duo+), which claims to prevent any post pigmentation after acne/pimple. It's working well for some pimples/acne. I do suffer purging for the first wk but now it's better controlled. I'm only into my third week so I'll be using it to give u guys a verdict after a few months of usage.

A friend of mine told me it might be the filtered water that is causing the redness. Her friend tried using filtered water and was finally freed from inflamed skin. My redness looks like eczema/rosacea but my facialist claims that it's not. (half a year ago) Till date, I'm hesitant in visiting the derm for diagnosis cos previously I was given doxycycline antibiotics that has made it worse. I rather let nature takes its course. It might be a long wait, but in the long run, it's beneficial for your body rather than feeding on medicine with possible side effects.
