Spiro And Body Acne

Hi all: I know this has been asked before, but I am looking for some advice on Spiro and body acne.

I've been on Spiro 50mg for about 6 weeks. Had an IB with cysts on my face, but now that they have cleared up, my face looks really great. Best it has looked in a long time. That said, my face was mild before - oily skin, clogged pores, less than 5 pimples at any time. I still have some clogged pores, but oil is down, red marks are healing, and no new pimples.

I took Spiro because of my moderate cystic back acne. I am not seeing a difference in breakouts on my back (not better or worse). I know 6 weeks is early days for Spiro, but I wondered if it is possible that 50mg is enough for my face, but not strong enough for my back? Has anyone had a similar experience with body acne being more stubborn than face acne while on Spiro? Getting such good results on my face is making me so happy but so impatient for my back to clear up.

50mg could be plenty, but you have to give it time (hard I know). I took 25mg and it cleared my acne up everywhere (face and body) after 6 months.

Sometimes I think back acne and face acne are really different conditions. I don't have any proof of this, but it seems like people frequently have different treatments for each.

I don't get back acne unless I use hair products, body washes, or sunscreens with silicones in them on my back. Silicones are powerful occlusives that cannot be removed unless you do a double-step cleansing process (oil cleanse + surfactant cleanser). I can't imagine trying to do the double step cleanse on my back.

And every once in a while I do get some back acne under my bra strap if I'm sweating in a tight bra.

I am going to try to be patient!

I use the Live Clean brand, which has no SLS, phosphates or silicone. Love it. No weird scalp pimples since I started using it. But I agree that I never feel like my back is really really clean. Bah, I hate acne.

I had severe cystic acne on my back worse than the cystic acne I had on my face. Spiro cleared up both. That being said, my back was last to clear on spiro... it was still pretty bad until the last couple months. I was fully clear at month 6. I took 100mg but like I said I had pretty severe bacne. I would give it more time. It still has a chance of working for you at that dose and you don't want to take more than you need.

Thanks hearts, it is good to hear someone else's experience mirrors mine. This gives me hope!
