I Will never be what I wanted to be in life

I will never be what I wanted to be in life because of acne. Started at the age of 15 and am 20 now. I droped out of school in 10th grade because of it but the funny part was my family diddent know that...And still dont to this day. I managed to get myself back on my feet and I got a G.E.D. Through this whole acne struggle I got into bodybuilding at age 15 and had a dream to be a pro wrestler. I posted a pic of me in the board. In the mean time I lost the ability to socialize with others, go out, talk to girls, go to college, have friends and everything. The biggest mistake I just made was become a Fitness and Nutriton consultant. besides the passion I have for it wont do any good for the fact that I cant deal with people. I guess I will take a Dead end warehouse job and let all my talent and knowledge blow away in the wind. I had a Friend online that I talked to for 6 months. We would go on web cam and I even called her once. Tonight I just told her we shouldent talk anymore and shes waisting her time with me. She signed off and I feel all this guilt that wont go away. I try and talk to god I dont know if he can hear me

All that was good in my life has died

{Nick}

Don't be sad dahhhhling,

You look great in your picture!

You will overcome the acne.

Be patient.

I'm 23, I have had acne for about 7 years.

I cleared up for about 2 years (due to Accutane), now its coming back - but not as bad.

I know in my heart theres a cure out there for me.

Try and stay positive.

And pursue your dreams.

I'm thinking of going into dermatology research for grad school because I want so bad to find some sort of cure.

I'm a 4th year biology student.

hey man i'm totally like that... minus the school thing... absolutely no socializing watsoever... not sure if i'd blame it entirely on my skin... alot easier to jus generally hate dealing with people. Girl thing is the same way. Its jus a sucky way to live a life...

i've had times when talking to girls online ... conversations that ended badly... would really fill me up with like anxiety and guilt and nervousness... which would get compounded day after day until it just feels sick. But u realise that if u feel like that now... its just as likely u won't feel like this tomorrow... its a weird quirk some ppl have.

not sure if it'd apply to u.

so just don't like... i dunno... let it bug u... clear it up if u want to... 6 months is alot of time to invest to just throw away by ur own choice... if she is in fact wasting her time let her find that out for her self. I think. I'm only 18.

nick bro i can relate, i failed outta college because i really had no desire to even go out in public because of my cystic acne...do yourself a favor bro and go get on accutane, it definately changed my life. unfortunately i waited and not have a back full of scaring from my cystic acne but my face is completely clear and i feel 100% better about myself.

good luck bro, and look at it this way, if you workout anyway people (espically gurls) prob just think your acne is fron juicing anyway and think nothing of it wink.gif

I sometimes feel that way. I wish you could be my buddy. I need friends myself. But, look on the bright side you have people at acne.org that will support you. That's why you posted this in the first place to be heard. And everyone reponses comes from the heart just, like mine.

Nick, you know that we wouldn't think of you different because we've all been through this. I have an extremely hard time socializing as well. I usually don't ever talk because I've had it so young. Though if we ever met up, I'd definately come up and talk with you. I know you've got a big heart in there. user posted image

Just gonna add my bit here. I totally relate to your experiences, but you really have nowt to worry bout if that is your avatar as you look decent! Learn to socialise again. Get into some local interests, thats what I'm doing. Cheer up. I did that exact thing with a girl online a few years back, I know how sucky that can be.

I also relate to how acne has stopped you fulfilling your potential. It screws up every part of your life.

If you ever wanna chat, just pm me dude!

yeh ditto. Your acne is really not bad. I think you really should start socialising. Get talking to people.

That is the best advice I can give you. That will give you some confidence, which you don't seem to have. Get chatting to people.

But I can see how years of acne can change the way you think about yourself

Hey Nick,

Wish I could give you a big hug!!!

I'm old enough to be your mother...but I still think you are cute. biggrin.gif

Anyway, my acne came on at 20, and I remember feeling very similar to you.

Please know that being 20 isn't easy, even without acne. At 20, you're just finding your way in the world...figuring out what you'd like to do to make a living...living as an adult, but young enough to really remember what it was like to be a kid! There are a lot of pressures. Add acne to all of that, and I can understand how you feel the way you do.

HOWEVER, I'm here to tell ya, things DO get better. You're smart, so you'll find your way. You love fitness, and women love fit bodies & the confident posture that goes with. That's a good place to work from. There are plenty of people on the planet who have perfect skin but are idiots, or don't use their brains, and don't take care of their bodies.

Please follow your bliss. And I think Dan is a great role model--look how he took a difficult situation & turned it into a wonderful thing!

Hang in there...and keep us posted.

I understand what you're going through. Having to give up a dream because of acne is a tragedy. I'm in my late 20s and I've always wanted to be an actress, but my acne scars have put a stop to my ambition...so here I am, feeling like I'm too old to strive for an acting career, unable to afford scar treatments, and with a heart that is heavy.

You still have time though, you're still young. You may think that you're unattractive, but you're actually the opposite. Just have hope that things will improve. And one thing I know for sure (although I get so frustrated at times that I have to scream at God and ask "Why me?") is that God does know of your pain and does hear your prayers.

I know that my "advice" may seem like just another round of useless words...but I really do hope the best for you. And what can ordinary people like us do but pray and hope? You can get through this, friend.

Hey Nick -

You ever use anything while working out? I dont just mean gear I mean andro's or even creatine?

Some of those things will make you break out fierce. and only 20? Cmon man, your a kid still. You ever been on accutane? Im on it now and still work out 3 days a week and work 2 jobs so dont buy all that side buisness.

Go to the doctor, get the tane, get your life back man. If you cleared up for no good reason than the tane will do you right.

I started getting acne before I started lifting weights. I took accutane when I was 16. I dont take steroids or creatine so its gotta be hormones.
