I cant quote poppy but it sounds good does your plastic surgon have any before and after pics? on excision would you mind telling me here or in prvate message who you got this done by?. Its good that you went a lot of consultations. I understand its trading a scar for a scar but I am currently looking into a technique that wont leave any scar when getting excision

I always ask for before and after pics when I had consultation, it's important. Yes my PS showed me some of them.

IMO, I think the result will be depend from surgeon skill, your healing ability and post surgery care, it will leave scar but it will be fade in time.

I'll PM my PS detail.

Thanks zavvi..

I just came back from my PS office to take stitches out. I was so nervous and scare will be disappointed at this point. He pulled and cutted the stitches, it hurt a bit. He said I took a good care of the wound, everything heal fast, there's no fail excision, all of my excision close up perfectly flat, look like really faint line, you have to be really close to see it. Phew, I was worried!! I see my face in the mirror, I burst my tear, I didn't see any holes in my face, I have what they call railroad track mark but my PS said it will be fade in time, he told me to put silicone gel and massage the wound to help healing process!! Maybe it still too early to judge, but I'll update the result every week, as my PS said that now the wound still in mature phase and I have to take a good care of it until the wound strong enough. I'll post picture tomorrow!!

Thanks! I'll post pic tomorrow. My PS suggested dermabrasion to smooth it out but I scare with the side effects in Asian skin, peel seems safer for my skin, will give it a try maybe wait a month post excision. I feel content with the result so far.

Good day everyone!!

So now I'm a week post surgery and I had stitches take out on day 7, my PS worried that i'm a slow healer and the wound still not heal properly but he was suprise that everything heal properly, I have this railroad track mark that he said will be fade in time, he said for my 2nd excision, he'll take out stitches on day 5 and put dermabond instead to prevent any railroad track mark. I was worrying about redness but it's not really bad when I tried to put concealer the redness gone, usually when I apply concealer it get stuck on my pitted scars make my scars look more visible, but now my cheeks look smoother.

I still have the rest of scars that I will be excise next month but because my biggest and deepest scars had greatly improved, I'm happy and I can live with it for now. I'll take a good care of it cause I heard a lot of horror stories that scars sunked in after a few weeks. I woke up this morning, massage gently the wound, put scar gel and steri-strip to prevent any tension. I'll keep doing it for 8 weeks and will see what happen. My biggest concern is because I'll start my new job soon, I don't think I could put steri-strip during work, I don't want people give me a strange look..lol!

Sorry for poor quality pics, I try to find best lighting but it's grey and gloomy this morning.

I'll post my progress and pics on weekly update.

Cheers

I think it's a good idea that he will remove the stitches at 5 days next time to prevent the suture railroad track marks. I commend you for your thorough after care. I know it will look a little strange with all those steri-strips for a few weeks, but I think it will make a huge difference. I got lazy with one large excision, so it stretched and got indented.

Today I was trying to took a picture in different lighting, still unhappy with the redness and can't wait for my 2nd excision. I massage the wounds with scar gel for 15 mins, it help to fade the railroad track mark.

I was worried that the wound won't heal properly cause Accutane effect my healing ability, hence, my PS decided to open my stitches on day 7. Did u experience any railroad track mark on your wound? How long it will be fade? I'm using silicone gel now, is it better to use silicone sheet instead?

Thats exciting, Poppy! I found a plastic surgeon nearby that will do excisions. So hard to find, bcs everybody is pushing lasers these days. And I'm not so impressed with lasers. Keep us posted! I am going to book a consult next week….your post inspired me to start looking at this method!

oh wow i didn't realize this was possible - congratulations on having the courage to do something.

Thanks Josh..

I was a bit skeptical before, I thought that I will be stuck with this face forever but everything is possible. IMO, as long as we believe it would be happened then it will be happen. State of mind.

Yay! I'm happy for you Chrissy, good luck with your consult, make sure to ask all the bullet point regarding excision to your PS, cause I think not all PS experience in acne scar revision, keep us posted with the result! Wish you the best.

So true Chrissy, they making more money with laser. Laser only good for resurfacing but I think it didn't do anything with the scars. When I had laser last time, I left with burn mark in my temple!!

I'm happy that my post could inspired everyone in this forum and I hope I'll hear your success story soon!!

Thanks for the info! I don't mind with line scar as long as it's not indented, it will be easier to cover with concealer. Hopefully it still continue improving Edited by PoppyW
