And if they are actually indented, would they be shallow enough that they would fill in over time on their own? My dermatologist said they will fill in, but then again, he also said I would not scar...and I have counted 50 probable indents in the mirror.
My acne was mild-moderate and I never touched my zits, ever. I once had severe cystic acne on my chin and never scarred...that was only 3 years ago. So why am I scarring now all of a sudden?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!
You're actually pretty clear!
100% flawless skin is not a good expectation, it hardly happens to humans.
I think what you are worried about are a few scars and the rest are PIH.
Use some AHA to heal off the PIH and the remaining would be scars (which can also be fixed with expensive treatments).
I don't think scars fill on their own, from my experience that is.
Maybe it does fill for others.
Good job for you not touching your zits, that is honestly something to be proud of!
Keep it up.
A good aha to use is called alpha hydrox intensive serum 14% glycolic aha
U can buy it at places like ulta or walgreens
It roughly costs about $15
Its the highest aha i have seen in stores it has a watery consistency which is great because it isn't thick and sinks right in
It would produce noticeable results after a period of time
Your scars are mild and the serum is not overly harsh but still exfoliates noticeably which is great so u can use it everyday if your skin is not too sensitive
I hope this helped
Good luck
Please don't try to do something too harsh that will make your skin worse
Thanks guys for the responses! Rati, would you say it is mostly PIH? And that there are only a small amount of scars, like 3-4? Its hard to tell. I feel like some of the redness makes them look deeper than they are, because when I look veeerrryyy closely, just at the texture, disregarding the redness, it looks like it could be even. In this nebulus mess I definetly see black/ purple dots which look indented. My derm said I have no ice pick scarring, so could they be scarred pores?
I have been lurking here for months and reading many, many forums, I find that some people have their scars filled in completely over time. I am just hoping mine are mild enough to do that, because I am totally willing to do whatever it takes to faciliate my body's healing.
Oh my gosh, you still don't understand how much pain the insecure feeling from actual scars is.. Don't do anything if you are not sure what you are doing to your face, believe me! I never complained about my skin when I had skin like you. But now, I regret everything to tell you acne scars can't be got rid of completely with anything you name it, especially the deep ones
What happens when you put on makeup and the redness is covered? Does the make up sink into the areas you are calling "scars"? Get some foundation and try itmaybe that would give you a better idea of whether there are actual indents. The discoloration can mess with what you are actually looking at...
I agree that the discoloration must be messing with things. I put some foundation on and it looked more even. However, it did not cover the redness completely (only subdued it), so it still looked hard to tell if they are indented. But if it looks more even with the foundation, would it be safe to say they are probably not scars and this is caused by an optical illusion?
For comparison, I put foundation on the one indented scar I have on my forehead, and it looked the exact same; that is, the foundation did not make it look more even.
I have been trying to figure out if they are indented or not now for 5 months. Would that be another indication that they are really not?

get a mirror and look into the worst lighting maybe you will see if its indented
