Advice On Scar Treatments

I've had moderate to severe acne for the majority of my life. As you can see from the pics, it has taken quite a toll on my skin. Now that my skin is relatively clear, I am ready to start treating the scars. Has anyone with similar scarring had any successful treatments they can recommend? I imagine for my degree of scarring I will need some type of laser or fairly invasive procedures.

Thanks

your scarring is so minor i wouldnt do anything crazy. you could do a series of tca peels to try and even things out a bit but i wouldnt do much more than that.

You really think that's minor??? I was considering looking into derma stamping. So you think laser resurfacing is unnecessary? I'm very curious about Fraxel but I've read horrifying reviews about it basically 'sucking the life' out of your skin. I don't want to age prematurely.

yeah its minor at least to me because it looks just like bigger pores and not like major indented scarring. yeah derma stapping could be good for sure that is a good thing to try. i wouldn't do laser at all for that type of scarring its not even worth the risk. have you ever tried retin-a at all? can you post a pic of your entire face without it being such a big closeup? it might help me to get a better look at things but that type of scarring i probably wouldnt even notice at all in person.

It's noticeable. I'll take better pics. I was on Retin-A in high school (late 90s), but it was too strong for my skin. It also did little to nothing to stop new acne. I wonder if it would help now. This is the first time in my life I've had relatively clear skin and it's due to 5 month of accutance. I've been off for about 1.5 years now

I would try an egg white mask once a week and see how you get on before you do anything major..also try things like Apple cider vinegar....they should clear pretty quick if you eat the right stuff and use the right things....honestly you don't want to make them worst....laser and derma stamping are way to dangerous for the benigits you could get

Your skin will heal, just keep it always moist..

With the pics you just posted your skin looks pretty damn good. I would try a series of peels i think it would really help your skin tone which will help the scars look better. Seriously though those scars look really minor.

I wouldn't do anything except buying some creams and gentle facial wash to maintain the skin and make the skin look brighter. There are many other things out there you can actually do than putting your skin into risk. Yes, you have acne scars on your left cheek and they are grade 3 I guess but I do not see you have many of them on your face. Be grateful rest of your face mostly is not scarred although you have rough texture. I do agree peel might make your skin better but I wouldn't do it my self.

I'm going to try a series of peels and see how that goes. I'll also read about apple cider vinegar. Not too familiar with it. I'm glad you think laser is too drastic for my level of scarring. Quite frankly it scares me.

yeah the peels should work out well for you. i would do a series of 5-6 over the next year and see where that goes you. you look fair skinned so you should be fine to do them. i have done lots of different types of peels and have good luck with them but i like the TCA the best. i had a good 5 layer TCA peel once and my skin peeled very fast and it looked so much better but you have to work up to it. make sure you go to a reputable place as well so do your research before you do anything.

i have had pretty much every single procedure out there and the laser is not nearly as scary as it sounds but i think you would need a series of them as well to see any sort of difference. i would go the chemical peel route first to see where that gets you first and go from there. good luck!
