Feeling down about acne? Take a look at this!
Sometimes times get hard and we all need a bit of a pick-up. We need to realize just how lucky we are, whether or not we have acne.
The following isnt going to cure your acne, but it might just put things into a bit more perspective. I hope this helps you, even just a bit.
What would the world be like if it only had 100 people?
If the world were made up of a village of just 100 people:
50 would be female
50 would be male
26 would be children
There would be 74 adults, 8 of whom would be 65 and older
There would be
60 Asians
15 Africans
14 people from the Americas
11 Europeans
Around 85 people in the village would have had acne at some point in their lives
A massive 78 wouldnt even have a computer
23 wouldnt have a place to shelter them
1 would be dying of starvation
15 would be undernourished
21 would be overweight
13 people would have no clean, safe water to drink
15 people wouldnt be able to read or write
Also think about the following:
- This morning, if you woke up healthy, then you are happier than the 1 million people that will not survive next week.
- If you have never suffered a war, the loneliness of the jail cell, the agony of torture, or hunger, you are happier than 500 million people in the world.
- If you can enter into a church or mosque without fear of jail or death, you are happier than countless millions of people in the world.
- If there is food in your fridge, you have shoes and clothes, you have bed and a roof, you are richer than millions of the people in the world.
- If you have a bank account, little debts, money in your wallet and some coins in the money-box, you belong to the 10% of the people in the world, who are well-to-do.
- If you read this you are three times more blessed because:
1. Somebody just thought of you.
2. You don't belong to the near 1 billion people that cannot read.
3. And... you have a computer!
Just remember...
As well-intentioned as this is, I don't think it's of much help to us. People here are feeling down because of acne. Telling them "but at least you don't have these other issues" is kind of missing the point. Most of us are not on here because we are poor/illiterate/in jail/etc. If anything, posts like this tends to make people feel worse because it indirectly delegitimizes their feelings.
Telling someone to "count their blessings" is really just an off-handed way of saying: "deal with it".
