I took Bactrim years ago and was off it when I took different medication. I still have acne today, and my new dermatologist prescribed me Septra. I never heard of Septra, so I was hoping it would help clear up my breakouts. Anyways, I've been taking it for about 1 month now and I see no progress.
I researched Septra, and it seems that Septra is the same antibiotic as Bactrim. I called my dermatologist and she replied back saying that it's not the same, and that Septra is stronger. I'm not sure what to make of it. Is this really true? The pharmacist at my pharmacist even said they were the same drug on the phone. I've heard it's not efficient to be using the same antibiotic if I've used it in the past... maybe that's why my acne isn't clearing up?
Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole
