Ever since I was 15 ive been in this constant struggle with acne, I'm now 24. Through numerous routines and life style changes, this includes cutting out diary, sugar, gluten and wheat, ive managed to get 90% in the clear and although the occasional flare up demotivates theres another problem that hasn't gone away for a very long time.
I've had this redness at the side of my nose (nose wings) longer than I care to remember sometimes it flares up bright red other times it calms but it never goes away, at first I thought it was a remnant of my acne but I started to think it was caused by seborrheic dermatitis, rosacea or possibly eczema. I've looked at so many sites online to try and find an exact match to what I have tried every treatment I can imagine to no avail.
My skin gets very dry when I wash it even with just water, It sometimes stings or forms little spots that turn crusty, ... to feel this way after battling servre acne aggravates me.
I am grateful for any help as to any advice from anyone who has had the same or a similar condition and how they over came it. I will leave a picture on my condition and check this post for updates, thank you in advance

Firstly: Do not worry bro. This looks very mild and should be fixable in no time.
Secondly: I agree that it might have something to do with dermatitis. Based on your description of it I would advise you use an antifungal cream for a short while to test the theory. I strongly advise ketoconazole. This is available in nizoral 2% cream. (don't get the shampoo accidentally.) This cream is available only via prescription I think. But perhaps you can get it from an online pharmacy.
Thirdly: What topicals are you currently using on your face? This area of the face is a very likely candidate for buildup of whatever topicals you are using, because it is an in-fold where product would naturally accumulate.

Thank you for your advice. I will follow your suggestion with using the nizoral 2% cream and see if the problem clears up. With regards to what my current skin care routine is, my GP prescribed 'Dermol Cream' to combat the dryness. Previously, I had tried Selsun Blue shampoo with selenium sulfide, thinking it was Seborrheic dermatitis. However, all it did was make the area inflamed and thus more red. I've gone as far as doing absolutely nothing to my face except cleanse just with pure water, thinking that all these chemicals were the problem, but still no change. Hopefully, I can come back to you with good news that the cream worked.

As I have stated above. I used to have very severe acne. So, I know all about looking at others perceiving that their skin problems were miniscule to my own but that doesn't mean that their issues do not have an effect on them. Throughout my personal struggle with acne, I feel as though this is the last obstacle I have to overcome in order to get that clear complexion I've been striving to achieve and fully repair my damaged self esteem.
i thought we were having the same issue, 'cause i have redness around the nose too (but also on my chin as well). but mine moves, its expanding/contracting, i think its removed almost completely from my chin, and the right side of my nose, but the left side is more tricky. the thing is in my case it doesn't get dry after a wash (on the contrary, if i don't wash with a bit of acidic component like apple cider vinegar i get very oily in that area), and in no case does it form crusts.
in my case, i think it's dependend on diet. like try drinking water with lemon juice in it, and gennerally eat a antioxidants diet to see if it diminishes. if you say it's not Seborrheic dermatitis, althogh the driness and crust-forming points to it (but i'm no specialist), then try washing your face with green tea.
but i'm curious about how you got rid of acne. do you now also completely avoid those foods you mentioned (dairy,gluten,sugar)? or you can now eat more into those foods without getting acne? also did the acne healing coincided with your beard growing? (when i saw your complete beard i immediately thought you can't have acne)
also, did you get "bombarded" with whiteheads (like at least daily - on your chin/nose), or was it mainly just a cysts problem?
It could be seboherric dermatitis, that is what I have around the same part of the nose and it is also on my scalp. My derm gave me a 2% perscription for nizoral which is supposd to be the best over head and shouldets, t-gel, selsun blue and so on. I am starting to think that sress and my seb derm is what is casuing my acne like spots to pop up here and there.

I checked out that Dermol just now. Seems it is antiseptic plus emolient. Neither are anti-fungal, so it means the chance of an anti-fungal working is still on the table. See what Nizoral 2% cream does for you, if after 5-6 days there is no improvement then we'll rethink towards another strategy.

Hey sorry for the late reply to this forum, I tried the cream at first I thought it was going to work because it made the area very inflamed so I thought that something was working so I continued to use it, after a while of using i stopped to see if the redness was still there and it was a few weeks after now the redness is still there the same as before anymore advice would be helpful, I wish I just new what it was so then i could treat it so frustrating its like hit or miss lol

it seems like seborrheic dermatatis similar to mine. Some people have symptoms of Seborrheic Dermatitis only on those nose wings, and it is a very mild case. I know this because a relative and a very close friend have the same problem with you.

I'm sorry im replying late. No they dont do anything cause they go away really quickly and they dont seem bothered by it at all.
