Hi, can someone/anyone please have a look at these photos and let me know how severe my acne is? I did think that I had moderate acne, but actually since i've been getting very large cysts forming under the skin (I have one now, which is quite hard and painful) then maybe I have severe acne? I also having blackheads, whiteheads etc ... in fact, i seem to have it all - but it's quite localised (to the cheeks). Wondering what the best thing to do is with the cyst - my skin scars very easily, but i've been using various things like tea tree oil, vit c serum, bp etc. Also my diet is really good - no dairy or meat, lots of veg and supplements. I also run every day, so not sure what the deal is... And as for the pics - they actually do make it look a bit better than it is, at least you can see the marks from a mile away if you're looking at me!

Thanks!

I would say mild acne... aint severe definetely.. Keep doing what you're doing, drink lots of water, wash your face twice a day.. after run dont use face wash or something just lukewarm water to remove any sweat off your face.

You do not under any circumstances squeeze your underskin pimples.. It will more than likely leave a scar, When i had cysts i would apply some levanda oil on it and in 3-4 days it would look definetely better..

Its moderate to me, but definately not severe. You dont look that bad. Try some vicks vapor rub on the cysts overnight. It works wonders on me. In fact its the only one that shows significant difference within a night. And i have tried A LOT on my face!

Thanks so much. Will try the vicks and the lavender oil. I think the cyst may have formed originally because I used a (disinfected) needle on a spot which is above where the cyst is now. I just worry that most of the things I would put on the skin won't penetrate deep enough as it's quite far beneath the skin. I am also considering two other options for a more long term solution (?) - have you heard of N-Lite laser? I was told that it would work and I should have it in conjunction with some (obaji or jan marine) face peels. However, the dermatologist has said, and here's something I left out of my first post, that the laser won't be very effective as long as I'm smoking. I think the smoking may have a lot to do with my acne - I don't know, but I'm trying to cut down and I guess, counteract it with vitamins, exercise etc. I also have my finals at the moment, so it's proving difficult in regards to stress levels!

I'm attaching a few more photos as I now have daylight - might give a better indication... post-383913-0-43260400-1395226172.jpgpost-383913-0-77764100-1395226180.jpg

As i said in my First post your acne aint severe, you dont need to use any laser or whatever everybody tells you in order to be acne Free..

Secondly.. Stop smoking/alcohol.. make sure during the night to keep your hair off your face because can result in a breakout straight off.

As soon as your cysts are gone try to exfoliate your face with sugar and water it's simple and it gives an amazing feel afterwards !

Also, Could you please post what cleanser do you use and do post each step of how you clean your face (Many people tend to clean their faces incorrectly and it's very important because they blame the products afterwards)

This is a very subjective question. Personally, your acne is only as bad as you feel it is. I feel like my acne was/is severe, although some people may disagree. I never had cystic, deep adult acne before until I stopped taking birth control. My skin quickly changed and I began breaking out along my hairline, around my mouth and chin and on my jawline. To me, moderate acne is when you have 3 or 4 isolated pimples (highschool years), and severe is when you have large cystic acne (adult acne).

I use Jan Marini Bioglycolic cleanser + transformation serum + vit c serum.... I've been using it for a while, but can't say it's helped - but then the dermatologist who recommended it also said that I would initially break out with it. I'm now experiencing peeling of the skin where the spot was and the cyst is (underneath the skin still) - have been using clean and clear moisturiser all day but it doesn't seem to be doing the job! Also, still worried about the size of the cyst under the skin and how to get rid of it!

Also wondered if their is a UK equivalent to Neosporin ... don't know if anyone would know? It seems to be the recommended thing on a lot of the message boards...

First of all, there is no point to use all that products, sometimes too many products makes out breakout...

Are u sure that the cleanser and the moisturizer is right for your skin ? Is your moisturizer oil Free and non-comodogenic?

I think you should stick with a good appropriate cleanser and moisturizer for ur skin without applying any more products.

Try levenda oil.. It worked for me and as far as i remember it is very cheap

Also, make sure that you are cleaning ur face the right way

=WET UR FACE WITH LUKEWARM WATER

=Apply ur cleanser for 5 or so minutes

=Wash your cleanser off ur face with lukewarm water

=Rinse cold water to ur face for 30 seconds or so to close your pores.

=dont ever use towel or papers to dry ur face... Just let ur face dry naturally

=Last step as soon as ur face is completely dry.. apply ur moisturizer by massaging softly ur skin

It will certainly go away, However cysts' scars takes a long time to fade away, so be patience and dont think too much over your scars.

Your skin looks ok overall.. i wouldh't think too much!

Just keep it simple and always clean your face!

are you sure? it's a pretty deep icepick scar from what i can tell... feeling tempted to do this laser stuff - also the cyst is still there it's just quite far beneath the surface... but very large - i can feel it under the skin. Should I be trying to draw it out somehow - maybe with tea tree oil or something? Or will it just go away ....? Sorry, so many questions ha. Thanks for all your replies!

No way! Do not touch your cyst and dont try to pull anything out.. Even if you try to pull something out, nothing is gonna happen since your cyst is deep under your skin, you are just gonna make it worse Iam pretty sure the scar is gonna fade away within some months. I know cyst acne sometimes can get under your skin and it's very annoying but u gotta face it! nobody is perfect..

No problem, if you have any other question feel Free to ask, thats why we are here.. to try to help each other

I have cheeks that look pretty much like that except Im brown skinned so the spots are even darker brown. This is considered mild acne according to my derma.

that sounded like the beginning of a poem or song ha - 'cyst acne sometimes can get under your skin...but u gotta face it!'

anyway - do you mean that I should just leave it alone completely - will it go away on its own? seems unlikely !

Yes leave it alone dear! It will go away on its own just keep washing ur face morning and night. Do not pick at your cyst because it's likely to leave a scar..

What scar you mean? If you are talking about a Brown spot yes it will definetely leave., but if u mean a deep scar that u can't get rid of it through creams etc.. it maybe leaves maybe not.. it depends if you pick at it.. I used to have many cysts and none left a scar
