Hello everyone im josh and I recently went to the dermatologist in hopes of finding "the magic pill" that would wash all my sorrows away. Damage that was cause by non other than myself with my constant popping and picking of moderate acne.
Anyway the visit to the dermatologist was a complete disaster. He told me I did not have anything worth treating. Basically "Walk it off". Now I don't know how severe I am compared to others but I don't see many people who are worse off than I am. That could be that I live in Puerto Rico. People here don't tend to get acne.
It would mean alot to me if you guys could diagnose me and basically tell me what to do. Ill include pictures. Basically alot of redness/small scars. Your help is appreciated, it would save me months of hiding from others in my room

Yup I was that dumb kid and in so many ways this experience has humbled me. Anyway the visit to the dermatologist was a complete disaster. He told me I did not have anything worth treating. Basically "Walk it off". Now I don't know how severe I am compared to others but I don't see many people who are worse off than I am. That could be that I live in Puerto Rico. I'd say your acne is mild to moderate, depending how many active pimples you have and also what's on your back.
Please go to another dermatologist! Since you've scarred, you should go on a maintenance regimen, if not get treated for the scars.
I forgot to mention that I rarely get pimples its just the redmarks/scars that need to be taken care of. Any products or procedures you can can recommend? Thanks.
There are a wide range of treatments, but that gets narrowed down quickly. It depends what your skin type is, what you want the down time to be, what kind of scars you have, how many there are, and where they're located.
Here's a list for you:
-Chemical peels. High strength glycolic acid, low to medium % TCA, TCA and CROSS technique, and high % phenol peels.
-Lasers like CO2. Non-ablative lasers are also used.
-Subcision and punch excision (they're not the same, BTW).
-Retinoids and/or hydroquinone for prep and maintenance.
-Dermal fillers
-Microdermabraision
-Dermarolling, sometimes combined with other topicals for maximum results.
OTC 10% to 15% glycolic acid and high-strength retinol can help slightly and for the long term, but you're better off getting these procedures I listed above.
Hope this helps!
Thanks michelle. This helps alot! I really felt hopeless with what the dermatologist said. Especially since I was so excited on my way over to the office. I'll try another one and ill bring these procedures up with him or her. Once again Thank you soooo much!
You're welcome. Anytime! 🙂
