How thick is facial skin?

Hi all,

I was watching the Learning Channel yesterday and saw an operation done on a man's stomach. The skin looked really thick. But, I don't think facial skin is that thick is it?

If facial skin is as thick as torso skin then it seems to me that there's not a whole lot that can be done to completely erradicate deep scars is there?

I'm just wonder eusa_doh.gif

I think facial skin is about 3mm comprising epidermis .8mm and dermis 2mm.

Skin can regenerate partially if not totally from structures like keratinocytes and sebaceous glands deep in the dermis following deep abrasions.

If you look at my pics you will see that my skin did not regenerate totally leaving behind deep dents after abrasion.

Deep full thickness scars are best treated by punch techniques or scalpel excision not abrasion.
