Hey there guys,

I'm ramschi, a 25 year old male who sufferes from rosacea for quite some time now.

My main problem (and pretty much only one) has been my nose. Few years ago i started getting lots of big, deep lying and painful pimples all over my nose. It was a pain in the ass as you couldn't really pop them, and once they were gone, you could feel new ones coming on the same places all over again. It was always horrible to feel one growing, after touching your nose with your finger (slight pain just by touching it)

However, due to treatment i got controll over the pimples. About 1x per year I use antibiotics for a few weeks (when it gets worse) and I use finacea gel (skinoren gel here in europe) every night. That really helped keeping those horrific pimples out.

However, redness still remains, and I develop sebum quite easily so my nose is mostly red and shiny. I also got some visible blood vessels. And one more thing that bothers me a lot: After one pimple, which i got over and over again on the exact same place, infected once and left me with a small bump on the left side of the nose. It really bothers be as it makes my nose look more bumpy/older (remember, I'm just 25)

So i finally went to a doctor about it (I'm from vienna and there aren't many specialists for this topic). He was really realistic when i asked my questions, and told me he could get rid of the blood vessels and my nose would appear less red/noticable.

What he wants to do in one session:

Get rid of the blood vessels with KTP Laser, which should improve overall apperance and reduce redness too. I asked about the bump, and he said it could easily be flattened with a Co2 laser. Since many doctors told me it is not possible to do something about the bump without making it look worse (scars etc.), I was quite surprised how calm he was about it, like it's not a big deal to do it.

I was especially scared about the flatten-thingy with the co2 laser. He was very calm about it and said it's not such a big deal. However, I really don't want my nose to be more noticable/bumpy looking then before.

I added some photos: "Unluckily", my nose is in a better condition than usual, mostly the redness is much more visible. Also, the bump doesn't look to bad in those pics. Believe me, it makes the nose look bumpier.

I know there a quite a lot of users who have similar bumps on their nose. I would REALLY appreciated if anyone could chime in and telle me about their experience!

I'm really afraid about the Co2 laser for the bump, as I can't find any before/after pictures of similar cases. Anyone?

I heard that recell treates all kinds of scars .... it's a spray that is from your own skin ( they take skin from behind your ear ) and they make a spray out of it .... i think they dermabration the area first so that there is an open wound for the new skin to be absorbed .... and it's also permanent ....

sounds a bit too experimental for me, and unfortunately this kind of treatments are not really avaiable here in vienna..

has noone done a similar treatment for bumps??

if its just that bump i wouldnt worry at all about doing the co2 laser for it provided the doctor is very skilled and has lots of experience with the laser. i have been having my raised scarring on my chin treated with co2 laser (100% ablative not the fractional kind) and its a pretty easy thing to do. i have had it done twice with 1-2 passes each time and its working pretty well for me. the healing is pretty quick too i had it done on a wednesday and went back to work on monday (with aquaphor on the area) but by then its no big deal. i keep the aquaphor on my skin for about 8 days and then i use a good moisturizer and sunblock afterwards and thats it. the area will remain pink for about 3-6 months afterwards. good luck to you!

thanks mate.

the only thing I worry about is the fact that the nose skin is different (thinner), and I really don't want the small area to be more obvious than before!

I'm not that scared about ktp though.

i think you will be fine i wouldnt worry about that. i think most docs are conservative when treating these things so the worst i think that can happen is that the bump is smaller but not totally gone. just make sure you talk to the doctor about your concerns. i am sure it will be fine but the redness will persist for a while making it more obvious in that sense but a little bit of dermablend concealer will cover that right up. good luck to you!!

Hey there guys.

So I've had the laser treatment 16 days ago, and I wanted to update to let you guys now how its going.

The treatment itself was short, the pain was minimal. The doc did the ktp laser first to treat the vessels,

after that he used the co2 for the bump. Usually you get local anesthesia, but since he used the lowest level we didn't even need it.

Immediately after treatment my nose was red and swollen. He gave me diprogenta to use 2x a day for 5 days.

For the first days it seems like all the vessels were gone, and the bump pretty much too. however after some days it seemed like the results didn't turn out to well.

However, after about two weeks i can say that my nose looks a bit better (definately some, but not much improvement). Regarding the bump: During the 2 weeks, I mostly had little scabs and dead skin on the bump. It was an up and down, but i feel like it will be better than prior to treatment. It's still pink and red now, and the "bumpiness" is still there, but not as much as before. Let's see what the next week will bring me.

It costed me around 200 EUROS (not dollars).

So here are the pictures. Comparison is prior, immediately after, one week and present day (16 days). I have some slight serboherric dermatitis problem, please ignore it (on cheecks and above nose) since it has to do nothing with the nose/laser treatment.

[Edited image out]

I don't know why, but the 16 pics look a bit better than it actually is. the difference is not that obvious as you might think, but still improved. Since rosacea is a constant up and down my nose may look worse by tomorrow already. Regarding the process, my nose was worse than before for about 14 days, before it slowly got better.

So long story short: I think it was worth it, but definately no miracle treatment.. Let's see how it goes in the next few weeks.

yeah it seems that the docs that do the co2 for raised scarring are pretty conservative and don't like to go over the area too many times but at least you know you can go back and get it done again. i do think it looks better and its so small anyway that i bet if you get it done again it will probably be pretty flat after that. i think your skin in those pics looks freaking great thats for sure! i am jealous! i know for myself it took almost a month to see the full results and after 3 months it looked even better.

when i had mine done they just numbed the area for a few minutes and did the laser and i can honestly say it barely hurt. lol i have felt worse pain from a cortisone shot -ha!! i plan on going back again in a few more months to get it done again.

when do you go for a follow-up appointment?

hey tracy,

I just made an appointment for today.

However, I'm not that happy with the result right now. The bump is bigger and redder now than in the day 16 pics. I'll let you know what the doc said.

Well, i was there today.

I told him that the bump gets bigger with time (it's about the same size as before) and he said it looks flatter to him. The problem is, my surgery was about 2-3 weeks ago and he has no idea how it looked before (as he doesn't take pictures or anything)

also, all of the sudden he said results shouldn't be looked at before 5 weeks. all of the sudden. hmmmm

Well, kinda sad right now.

dont worry it should flatten out more in time. the swelling takes a long time to go down and if you wait a few months you will know how it turned out and then decide if you want to do it again. from the pics you posted its such a small bump i wouldnt even notice it if i saw you in person and if thats the only one you have then thats not bad at all.

Hi, I've been looking at the pics. I think your skin looks better than before, I know its still red but that wont last. Have you ever tried Dan's products (The regimen). I have been using his products for 6 days now to treat my pimples and I have noticed that the scars on my face are starting to disappear. I am really shocked because I didnt expect these results so quickly and I didnt expect to notice a difference with the scars. I thnk its because the bp treatment cream peels away the dead skin cells and some of the skin so it brings out new skin (if that makes sense). I would totally recommend them to you. I am already having friends comment on my skin!

Also rosehip oil is amazing for scars if you would prefer to use something not so invasive. Jojoaba oil is good too!
