About 10 days ago after about 3 months through my course, started to develop blurred vision, dizziness, general feeling of feeling disorientated and tingling in hands and feet. Was told by Derm to go down a dose and if it persisted after 2 days then to discontinue use of medication. Anyone have similar issues? I hope the blurred vision isn't permanent (seeing eye specialist this week) and now I've stopped the tane it will alleviate......... frustrating cause the tane produced great results...

Anyone? I stopped the medication but unfortunately these effects still remain, the doctor and derm seem fairly confident they will reverse themselves but I'm growing hesitant. I just hope there isn't lasting damage especially for my vision! Did anyone have similar problem?

Hi D90,

I'm sorry for experiencing these effects :s However, i did a lot of research before starting accutane myself and also asked my derm about any side effects. he mentioned the ones you experienced and regarding the dizziness and the blurry vision they are just some typical side effects that some of the accutane users might experience (not all but a small percentage) at some point during their treatment. But, those side effects are not permanent. Still experiencing those even after you terminated the treatment is just your body trying to get back to normal so I truly believe that in a few days you will be fine! Give it a few more days and if the side effects are still there then visit your dermatologist again. I hope I helped :)

Thank you for the response I hope so , My derm seemed adamant they will soon go away, she even was eager for me to go back on the Accutane in order to finish my course once these symptoms go away. My head says this would not be wise, and just blind reckless on her behalf , I don't want to take any risks, and furthermore thus far the vision issues etc show no signs of going, at night it's worse and I'f Im outside in the busy public (I live in a busy city) my head is spinning, it's like things are going in slow motion like I'm on some bad trip. Fingers crossed these issues will go (I'm going to see an eye specialist soon) , but I have read up on cases of individuals being left with permanent vision problems, this concerns me. The ironic thing is I was most concerned with depression before going on accutane that put me off going on it in the past, but I've had no depression during my 3 month tenure on the tane, but just these damn physical issues!!!!! Be careful on this stuff oh lovely smile.png I coped fine on 20 mg and 40 mg but when I went up to 60mg that's when all hell break loose and I reached my Waterloo. Wouldn't want you to have to go through what I'm experiencing currently.

Hmmm. Usually these sorts of side effects are temporary. I will admit that I have a permanent loss of some of my night vision from my first round of Accutane. Basically, it takes a lot longer for my eyes to adjust when it is dark. This started while I was on Accutane. I thought it would go away with time, but 9 years later it has not changed.

That being said, I am currently taking Accutane again because I had a relapse (acne came back) when I went off the pill. To be honest, I can handle the night vision adjustment issues WAY more than I can handle the acne.

So, yes, sometimes these things are permanent. But, to me, not really that bad. And, from what I have read, I am in a small minority of people who have permanent issues. However, I have never had any concerns with my regular 'day' vision or any headaches. I see why you are concerned, and I think you are doing the best thing by taking a break to see what is up. You know yourself best, so don't let your derm push you into anything you aren't comfortable with. Best of luck.

Concerning about all side effects of accutane will never take us anywhere, there are a lot of them!!! tongue.png I want to believe that side effects such as depression or anger etc etc only appear to those who were experiencing them before the treatment. I think it has to do with the character of each one of us. For example, if someone is sensitive, the treatment might magnify that! I would suggest to listen to the opinion of your eye specialist, see what he will suggest (although i believe he will tell you how bad can accutane harm your body etc etc) and its your decision if you want to start again with the treatment or not! And in case you do decide to go back on it, maybe just stick to the lower dosage (it might take more months to finish it though). Keep me updated smile.png
