Maybe not for all, but for the few unlucky...word is finally getting out. Anyone considering going on Accutane should read this and decide whether you want to "roll the dice". Wish I had a warning sad.png

Vicious cycle really.

Acne

No Sex

Accutane

Seems as though this can only end one way lol

Even though they may help with ED, drugs like Viagra really do nothing to restore libido, sensitivity, or other pleasurable feelings that normally accompany sex.

ED is only a part of the sexual dysfunction which seems to be an uncommon side-effect of Accutane.

Hah. It even took the fun out of doing it "solo" for me.

Most people should start with a low dose initially to see how they feel before going for the home run. For severe scarring acne accutane is the only solution. Also low dose zinc helps with sexual problems I think.

Good advice but bottom line is, the FDA needs to get their head out of their a#$ and change the warning label. For many, this side effect doesn't go away once the medication has been stopped. Low dose or not, people should know the REAL risk of the medications they are taking.

I think only the generic version of accutane is available now. The original one is out of the market.

I think some people on this thread forgot the title. Please if you have nothing constructive to contribute then don't post on this thread. Sexual dysfunction is a very real and permanent side effect of Accutane and is not funny.

Thanks Oli.

It seems like some of these posters are actually trying to be helpful though.

How would they know there's no reliable way to fix Accutane-induced sexual dysfunction.

We also have some people who have had high libido on the drug, then developed ED and loss of libido soon after stopping as a withdrawal-type effect.

Back in the day I wouldn't have minded less libido either. It pretty much consumed my thoughts.

...Grass is always greener on the other side.

Uh, are you guys sure Accutane causes sexual side effects? I haven't been able to find sexual side effects listed in any official or semi-official list that lists the side effects of Accutane. As in, sexual side effects are not even listed under 'very rare.' Can you guys find me a list of Accutane side effects where sexual side effects are listed at all?

I'm not denying that some people are getting sexual side effects on Accutane, by the way. But if the occurence is so rare that the drug compaines and government medical info websites are not even bothering to mention them... well that's something that would be important to know.

Well, sexual side effects have been reported since the 1980's., in fact you can request a copy of all side effects listed for a fee. However, suicide, pregnancy,IBD etc...took high priority. It does state in the rx side effect information that it can cause testicle atrophy. Many women have reported infertility which is not uncommon in taking chemotherapy and when Accutane is given for chemo they are actually warned of these things.

Well, here in the U.S. Roche brand Accutane is no longer on the market, and generics can't be sued so why should they care, why would they care about any side effect, people still don't believe it causes depression, suicide or any other side effect for that matter.

I don't suffer from sexual or depression, but Accutane did give me the long life gift of autoimmune type 1 diabetes at 35 which is a life long disease that no diet or exercise will fix.

Not to be rude, but if you really want to know about Accutane and sexual dysfunction Google the internet, read the literature, Dr. Kevin Pezzi who experienced it first hand, Dr. Crisler website for suffers, max proboards and request and pay for the list from the FDA.
