Supposed Revolutionary New Treatment For Skin Called Prgf

Has anyone heard of something called PRGF? It's used by Barcelona FC and other top football teams because it's meant to make you regenerate cells faster and they are now using it in skin?

It stimulates growth of elastin, collagen, fibrin and other proteins by making a fibrin membrane in your body using your own plasma. They are saying it's not a vampire facelift because they don't use the leukocytes in the blood and white cells because they cause inflammation. The whole point is it's supposed to reduce inflammation and from my research they are using it in artharitis patients, ulcers and even growing hair back??

I don't see how it can help scars though because the denatured collagen that would already exist needs to be removed by trauma first.

Maybe have dermaroller or laser and then do PRGF?

I had erbium laser 3 years ago and wish I'd done PRGF after it now because the effects the cell regeneration would have had on my skin sad.png

I don't want erbium again because the downtime is seriously huge - 6 months for me and the first 6 weeks were terrible. Results were ok.

They have a clinic in Harley Street and players like Messi are using it so must be something to it?? I don't really understand a lot of it to be honest, does it look legit? [link removed]

PRGF seems to be older than PRP but only just hitting the market as it was widely used in dentistry initially and dental implants as guy who discovered is a world class dental surgeon.

From what I can see... it's a more fine tuned PRP with a wider range of applications. It doesn't use blood or white blood cells thus reducing inflammation and promoting better healing.

I hate giving blood because I'm a bit of a wuss but I'm thinking about trying? Maybe dermaroller and then PRGF as I've already had erbium to successfully remove deeper scars.

About 70% better, just have some surface scars and one I got after erbium when I had Dermapen.

My problem is I need to make my skin look more vibrant, youthful, remove some redness and just plump it all up with more collagen and elastin, hence my keen interest in PRGF.

I ALWAYS do my research into treatments and I've come a long long way from where I was. I'm quite excited by PRGF though.

So what is the actual procedure? Does it require cutting into the skin? How is this superior to excision?

Look into stem cell fat grafting if you have money.

They take your blood, centrifuge to isolate plasma and fraction it. Cook it I think and inject into your face to start cell regeneration process. There's a gloopy yellow picture they say forms and acts as a natural filler whilst it releases all the proteins and collagen you want over the next 12 months. Last time I gave blood I went night night.

Yeah I saw the pics. I was just wondering how they get that "thing" into your face lol. If it's just injection then awesome I assume no scarring then. Why are you not doing this right now? Can you not find a doctor? This looks just plain awesome. If you decide to do it post back with pics, but if it was me and I had the money and my skin was ready for a treatment I'd do it myself tomorrow. I'm just wondering if there are any possible downsides to this. It's a filler that ALSO regenerates collagen? I suppose the only thing I'd be skeptical on is whether it really DOES regenerate the skin over time, or if it just gets reabsorbed like a filler and is actually just overhyped BS. Do you have any testimonies/reviews from patients with long-term results? Would be interesting.

Does this procedure also involve removing the scar? i.e. is the scar removed and then replaced with the plasma, or is the plasma simply just "thrown over" the scarred tissue? I guess I'm just wondering how this is superior to something like subcision/excision (not considering the scarring that can happen with excision). The idea with subcision is the scarred tissue is removed, and the skin is "raised" to give the appearance of normal, flat skin, although come to think of it I have no idea how they end up "raising" the skin. But why not do that and just bypass this whole 12-month "regeneration" process? Plenty of members have had awesome results with it. I'm just wondering what you see as advantageous in this procedure over something like subcision/excision?

According to my dermatologist, subcision creates a hematoma under the skin which increases bloodflow and collagen production.

However, no one should be under the impression that subcision is the end-all fix to atrophic scars. I've had subcision done 4 times on several of my deep indented scars and had no change whatsoever in the depth of the scars. It seems completely ineffective on some scars for whatever reason, but some of my other scars had drastic improvement.

I've read about PRGF. It seems very similar to Recell.
