So I've been using differin (gel) for like 2 months now and my face is still red. It looks like Differin didn't help at all.

I started using tea tree products from BodyShop last week. I use the following in the morning (in order): a toner > a skin clearing lotion > an expired tea tree oil (from Boots)

Should I get something else prescribed after another month ? If so, what do you recommend?

Oh btw the pics are from less spotty (haven't been on differin for long) to more spotty (been on differin for a while)

The most spotty pic is the most recent onepost-360352-0-35491300-1384045539_thumb.

Sometimes Differin can take 6 months to a year to see full results. Also Differin will purge your pores by bringing all the microcomedones to the surface and causing you to have an initial breakout. However, you know your skin better than I do so I think you should bring this all up to your derm, such as if you think it's not just an IB and it's worse than that. I just want to point out these, I've been on Differin for about 4 weeks now and I've been getting an initial breakout as well so it's normal.

If you are looking for something stronger or more aggressive I think Tazorac would be your next step. It is very intense and those able to tolerate it for 3 months tend to have great results. It was too much for my skin to handle but others rave about it! It is my understanding that retinoids typically go in this order:

Differin (mildest) < RetinA < Tazorac (strongest)

Goodluck!

Hey I'm in my fifth month of using Differin and I love it. I'd say in my second month I was noticing my acne getting less but still had a lot of redness and some breakouts, it took until about month three for the breakouts to stop and really month four/five for the redness to fade, but now it's fading fast and skin is looking better each day. Don't give up if you think it is working just a bit, stick with it. Also go easy on it too, I only put it on at night, just a pea sized amount if I can I don't use a moisturiser afterwards, but a few nights I do just to help with any dryness, and make sure to be gentle to your skin during the day and use gentle cleansers and maybe drop the tea tree as it might be making your skin a bit irritated if used with the Differin. Hope this helps, just wanted you to know that it can work, but I know everyone is different, good luck!

one thing to about a red face is all the products ur using that all have bad ingredients. get a dove unscented beauty bar or cerave foamoing facial cleanser, should be less red.
