Well the highly anticipated miracle drug, for sebum reduction and acne cure, which was under clinical trials in 2009, is apparently still alive!
If you read the wiki article, it basically states how after the second clinical-trials the drug was handed down to AndroScience Corp in 2009.

And not too long ago (2010 maybe?) somewhere out here in the forums people were discussing how the oral med was being procured ina tropical gel form. Now if you go visit AndroScience, and head out to their News and Events section, there are four articles (dating 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013) stating the development of a tropical gel called ASC-J9, which they've mentioned, is a ' the first of a novel class of compounds targeting androgen function for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris in men and women.'

Now there does not seem to be a direct mention that SMT-D002 is in fact ASC-J9 (trademarked) drug, but if you connect the dots, everything seems to point in this direction!
I've thought about taking Isotretinoin for sebum reduction, but have held back because of the nasty side effects it can have on you, and the news about SMT back in 2010, seemed dream like!
I just hope and wish that the two medications are correlated, or even if they are not, then this ASC med gets procured in the market quickly.

OK I think it is really possible that this is a breakthrough. I have always suffered from acne and needed BP to control it. Early weeks of 2013, I got a copper IUD that caused me persistent bladder infections. Because I had very painful bladder cramps with that, I was prescribed Oxybutynin which I took for quite a long time because I could not get rid of the infections. In those weeks ( I am talking about working really fast,, not slowly like spiro) my skin was the clearest ever , I stopped using BP and the rest. Then I was switched to a rather long term antibiotic which caused my whole body to freak out, and they took me off Oxybutynin. My skin turned crazy. I had the worst acne relapse ever since, my skin that had become so nice and dry suddenly got back to super-greasy and I had the breakout from hell. I blamed it on the copper in the IUD and had it removed, at the same time was put on spiro. Well today, I have no more infections and my skin is fine with the spiro, but I NEVER thought about my bladder pills being the reason for my great-skin-episode.
It should work. This stuff seems to penetrate the skin very well and actually the bioavailability (is it called like that in english??) is far better when it is applied on the skin than taken internally (most of it is inactivated by the liver's first pass effect if taken orally). Actually due to this fact, there already exists OTC patches with it to treat bladder cramps and other issues.

Ah, I see. I did some research on it after and the main aim is to target androgens. Hopefully this will be out to the market soon, it sounds perfect.

It's good to know that so many companies are working on it - probably means that it WILL happen. However waiting 4 years is awful. I'm contacting all the companies to see if they have open spots for trials. I'm currently on low dose maintenance Accutane after 2 full-on courses, but wouldn't want to be doing this forever.
