This is my first post here and I'm not really sure how to do this but here it goes

Some info on me: I'm 16 years old. I play soccer so I'm a pretty healthy and fit. My eating habits however are not so great so recently I've been trying to cut out junk food as much as possible. It's almost been 2 months since I started Dan's Regimen. I used to have mild acne until I tried proactive to clean it up but after I stopped because I saw no results, acne exploded all over my face.

I'm pretty impressed at how fast the regimen got rid of all my existing acne because now I don't have any active pimples (except for 2 that appeared on my right cheek this morning but they'll dry up soon). However, now that most of my acne is gone I'm left with red marks allllll over my face and it's just as bad if not worse as the pimples themselves. How can I get rid of these? Up until now the only products I've been using are Dan's cleanser, BP, and moisturizer. I've heard about Dan's AHA and Urine therapy being good to help fade red marks. Has anybody had any luck with this? How would I incorporate the treatment into the regimen? I hope to have these red marks somewhat under control before I go back to school in about 3 weeks if possible.

Thanks in advance for any help, it is all greatly appreciated.

I took these pics after getting out of the shower and cleansing my face with the cleanser. This was after the bp had soaked in and the close ups were taken 30 min ago, they look really bad at the moment.

edit: sorry I just noticed all the pictures are sideways

i would try AHA, either Dan's or Alpha Hydrox 10% enhanced lotion....try it once a day, it does fade the red marks, but it takes time

Seems like you have very little by way of scarring, so that is good, the color will fade and the daily AHA will help - you can try a weekly lactic acid peel too, start with with a low % and see how your skin responds

When would I put AHA on during my regimen? Also can you point me in the direction of a lactic acid peel as I have no idea what that is. Thank you for all the help, it is greatly appreciated!

I never used the regimen, but search on this site how others use the AHA and incorporate it into your routine- Dan sells it on the acne.org site, so if you look there it may explain it. I'm at the point now where I just use the AHA every morning and every night.

As far as the lactic acid peels, search that on here as well there are many reviews and fans of these peels, and you can buy them from Amazon - I use the one by Skin Laboratory, 35% I think (I'm not home this week) and you follow the directions, apply the acid wait just a brief few minutes then nuetralize with baking soda and water. GO SLOW until you know how your skin will react then if all goes well you can get more aggressive. Of course if you have the money you can have them professionally done too at a salon.

Also add vitamin C daily internally, wear sunscreen or the marks become darker.

Do you know anything about creams like proactive dark spot corrector and whether they'd be better than Dan's AHA or not?

I'll look into everything you said, thanks a lot man!

Hey, you could try Aloe Vera juice. It's the only thing that's worked to fade my marks. It might work for you :)

I've never tried the pro active dark spot corrector - I did buy the Clinique one and wasn't too impressed....the good thing about the AHA is that in addition to helping with hyperpigmentation it helps keep pores clean and actually will help fight acne.

And yes I agree with Kaelivia, aloe vera is great, but make sure it's 100% aloe vera, no artificial color or anything- can't go wrong with that either. But I'm an AHA fan.

Never tried dans AHA but what has worked for me is..

-Apple cider vinegar as a toner (diluted)

-Aloe vera as a moisturizer

-Vitamin C 1,000mg/daily

+100000000 to Skin Laboratory.

I can't speak to the lactic acid, but I've been using their salicylic acid gel peel (20%) and its seriously great. It's also pretty cheap. I think less than 20 bucks. But you have to follow instructions pretty strictly, I got some pretty nasty chemical burns from it - not to scare you away. If you use it correctly, it's a great tool in getting rid of red marks. I beg you to try it, or at least give it some research.

And AHA is alpha hydroxy acid. It exfoliates the skin. I'm really sensitive to it, it turns my face beet red for the day after I use it. But it may work for you.

Not that the advice you've been getting isn't good but honestly, I think your best bet is to have a consultation with a few cosmetic dermatologists. See what they suggest and go from there.

definently use some aloe vera, it helps sooth skin (make sure you get it as organic as possible). I can't tell from the photos, but will those scars be permanent? They're not bad at all but I'm not sure if you can find a quick fix.
