Hey friends! Haven't been on the site in a while but had a few questions I'd like to ask the community. I am wanting to pursue punch excision or just general excision for a handful of scars. I wanted to know about your experiences as well as possibly some doctors in the midwest. I've traveled to Chicago for a series of treatments of another type and won't go back. I know there is a specialist in Seattle (Dr. Philip Young) that seems enticing but if I can save some money by staying in the midwest, that'd be fantastic.
Just wanted to say good luck! I'm interested in excisions as well (scalpel rather than punch though), but so far haven't found anyone who thinks it's worthwhile. I'm not based in the US though, chances are it'll be easier for you to find someone. Please keep us updated if you do!
I'm not sure exactly what the difference is between a "punch" excision and a regular excision, but I had an excision done on a scar right between my eyes. My doctor told me that it was an extremely routine procedure and assured my it would look better. Unfortunately, three months later, it looks much worse and I regret the decision.
I don't post this to discourage you. In fact, I do believe that it's a relatively easy procedure that usually brings about good results. However, having been through my ordeal, I would advise to you carefully consider how much your scar(s) bother you, how you feel about going through a few weeks with stitches on your face, and the possibility of coming out worse for the wear.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Between the eyes is probably a tricky place because of movement, and I would think it is important to get a doctor who knows to position the excision according to relaxed tension lines. Are you planning on getting it re-excised? Just out of curiosity, was your doctor a plastic surgeon and did something go wrong in the healing process (e.g. the wound reopened after the stitches were taken off)?
Best of luck to you.
