I was looking through my camera, and my skin was considerably clearer back in march with only a few minor and bumps and one zit on the chin. Now it's breaking out all over the place sad.png. Anyone have any recommendations for treating this type of acne? I have just started washing with distilled water, i'll post an update of my skin in the future.

Here is what my skin looks like now sad.png

Relax, you have like level one acne. A better acne cream and face wash will do the trick for you. smile.png

Your acne is very mild, honestly I think just some spot treating with basic 2.5% BP would clear you up almost instantly.

Thanks I first tried the 2.5% and had no effect so I swapped to the 5% which helps a bit. Haven't used it in a week or so though. I know it's mild acne but for me it's a lot worse than normal. I never have had breakout on my cheeks like this and my forehead hasn't broken out since I was a teen. Usually i'd just get the odd zit on my chin. I've always had acne prone skin so i've always looked after it (like all of us on here!).

My skin is quite similar to yours, usually have a worse breakout on one side of my face and a few on the forehead, I am also taking the same supplements as you!

I know how you feel as it may be mild in other peoples eyes but to us personally it's super discouraging. I am at the moment in the same stage as you trying to find something that works. I have such a good skin routine which is the most annoying thing about it all!

I know but I was on Yasmin years ago, went off it and spent SO long getting my hormones back to normal! It just did not agree with me (and I gained some weight on it). Although I hear there are now lower dose birth control pills.

I bought an acne wash today so i'll give that a try "pHisohex" the main ingredient is Triclosan which is also in the 'Skin Clearing Wash' by Dermalogica which I used to clear up my acne when I was a teen. Worked a treat :). Hope it works this time.

It seems like i've been waking up with MORE oily skin from using the pHisohex. So maybe i'll just try it every other day. I put a layer of BP and a layer of Sweet Almond Oil on my skin last night. Woke up this morning and surprisingly it doesn't feel all grimey and oily!

hey there. your acne is really mild. Salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide will work for your acne. I'm curious about your irritation after eating oranges. is it like mouth ulcer? does it mean you're allergic to oranges?

After eating mandarins I got this rash then a bump. I went to the chemist thinking it was a cold sore but it's not, a type of dermatitis caused by irritation. The skin in the corner of the mouth is sensitive.

I am trying BP and that it doesn't feel like it's doing much, it's getting smaller but still it's there bugging me :(.

Well, the citrus might have irritated your lip. I also had this kind of sore and itchy throat after eating oranges few years ago.

What about salicylic acid? it can work to open the 'closed acne'. salicylic acid will just flatten them or make the 'head' come out. Beware though that it can cause breakouts in some people.

Thanks I'll give the SA a go. I want to go back to my normal cleanser as the acne cleanser pHisohex is just making me so greasy! It's probably too drying. I have less inflammation now though. I should probably also give my skin a decent steam and facial tonight as i've been going down to the cigar lounge a bit lately and my skin feels so clogged!

You actually look like Audrey Hepburn :D ... and yeah, your acne is extremely mild :)... so don't worry about it!

Yeah, I barely see anything. Just let it go and live your life. That'll make it better anyway.

I wish my skin was like that :P

But I completely understand it still being upsetting for you. No matter how mild or severe someone's acne is, it can still have the same emotional impacts etc.

I think BP would work for you - but nothing is going to work overnight so you might have to give it a few weeks at least to see how it works. (Same goes for SA if you're trying that now).

Acne? I don't see it. Either I am losing eye sight or my screen is playing with me.

Thanks all :). I definitely see acne though and it bugs me! Luckily my treatments are slowly starting to work and the texture is smoothing out. There has certainly been a hormone change of some sort as my skin is more oily than it's ever been. That's life huh?

Madeleine -

I started having acne very similar to yours about 6 months ago after never having acne in my life (just the odd clogged pore or pimple every now and then). What has really worked for me over the past several months is a topical retinoid (I use retin a micro) to clear out all the clogs and lurking microcomedones and Spironolactone which has really decreased the oil my face produced. You could try just the retinoid if you don't want to take anything to effect your hormones. Anyways, I went from looking pretty similar to you to being about 80% clear at this point (Spiro for almost 6 weeks and Retin a for 4 months). I have gotten some facials to help with clogged pores as well. Mostly now I just have some red marks which the retin a helps to fade and maybe 4 veryy small clogged pores on each cheek. Seeing a Derm has really helped me.
