Thinking About Taking Vitamin D, What's A Safe Amount To Take Per Day?

I drink a glass of milk a day on average and play basketball outside for a couple of hours about twice a week. How much should I be taking?

I take 10,000 IU a day with no ill side-effects. The Vitamin D council says that 5,000 - 10,000 is a good range to actually see results.
