Hey I have a problem with blackheads on my nose and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to get rid of them. I have been using Neutrogena's blackhead eliminating scrub daily as a face cleanser but have gotten little to no results. I think the problem is with the face cleanser is that it's made to prevent new blackheads from forming, but in my situation I already have blackheads in every pore of my nose and throughout my cheeks:
I am afraid your blackheads are very difficult to cure.
As you probably know from own experience, if you squeeze them out, they will be filled up again withing days.
The core problem is that your pores are enlarged. Think of it this way: your skin texture is changed, almost permanently, and there is no quick cure.
The only product that has some proven effect are creams with a derivative of vitamin A (retin-a etc.). Although used from the outside, it works by your skin slowly pushing out the blackheads from the inside. But don't expect wonders, I have been using it for years, and I still have enlarged pores with blackheads.
What doesn't work are all other topical products, at least I have tried them but they didn't help.
In fact, they can make matters worse, especially the ones that dry out or damage the skin like masks or scrub creams. The reason they don't work is because the problem is deep inside your skin, the enlarged pores.
I am sorry about my sober reply, but after years struggling with it, I came to the conclusion, as frustrating as it is, it's probably best to try to forget about blackheads.

You ever try going to a dermatologist?
I also have enlarged pores and have been able to clear the blackheads by using a chemical exfoliant (1-2% bha, 5% mandelic, 8% glycolic) on rotating days with a day off of exfoliating between. (See website: garden of wisdom - degunking session, for a more detailed explanation). If these products aren't available to you, or you're not able to tolerate acids, my bf has had an amazing response to sulfer soap (a great, cheap one is SAL 3 (only available online, [Removed], around $5, free shipping). This soap is stinky but clears up blackheads, sebhorric dermatitis & follicular dermatitis within 2-3 days of use (use only 1x a day).
Hey Kyle! My name is Kylene.
I don't have the same problem, but I would suggest going to the dermatologist and getting a Retin-A prescription, as other users have recommended. I'm 25 and using Retin-A for anti-aging and also for my occasional menstrual cyst. It is working thus far, and I imagine it would help clear the congestion causing those blackheads!
Good luck!
