Constant harrasment? Someone will get punched in the throat if they mention anything about my skin in public.

After awhile you just have to say this is as good as it will get and move on with this peice of shit life. Dont get me wrong I hate being around people but they can go fuck themselves I need my education and money ya dig.

Harassement happens. Just today some guy tried to be funny at my expense at work. And I don't even have acne; there will always be people who aren't going to be friendly for whatever reason. Acne or no acne. Like how I heard how one waitress friendly asked a customer to get out the way so that she could pass and the guy just stayed where he was and said something stupid like it wasn't his job to make her job easier or something. rolleyes.gif That's just a random example. I could go on. About all sorts of stuff that happens. When people say "people aren't that bad" then that's too simple. Some people are that bad. God knows why some people act like they do but it sure as Hell is annoying. ermm.gif

But how do I deal with it? Well, recently this other character at work thought he wasn't being helped fast enough so he and two women started insulting me behind my back. So I just walked over there and stood right in front of them which they didn't expect. And I remained friendly but I also showed that I was angry at the same time. It's hard to explain. But I would have looked them straight in the eye had these cowards not avoided eye contact while they sat there singing a different tune. You can't f*** with me man. neutral.gif lol rolleyes.gif

It's just a side of the world that we have to deal with. shrug.gif You can't avoid situations like that. But back when my facial scar was more obvious it did mess with my head for a long time. But it was a mental thing that I had to deal with. It's, I guess, one's own acceptance of what imperfections one has that is the key to fixing that. But I found it to be very hard to come to terms with things.

But I'm sure you'll get over these issues eventually! =]

After awhile you just have to say this is as good as it will get and move on with this peice of shit life. Dont get me wrong I hate being around people but they can go fuck themselves I need my education and money ya dig.

It really is a "peice of shit" sometimes, isn't it? I say that in all sincerity. Life sucks sometimes.

harassment may have been too strong a word but people get the picture & yeah make up is the one HUGE advantage i always find with girls. At least you gals can do that but what about us men? we look even dumber with it on, not to mention the fact that people would automatically think were gay even if we are not.

Yeah. But don't feel too bad. When my breakouts are severe, they only look worse if I attempt to cover them with makeup.

Not all girls feel they can wear makeup. I wish I could wear makeup, but I know how much worse it made my skin when I did, and it would just make my face even more uncomfortable than it already is! The hard thing about being a girl is that you are constantly being bombarded by images, advertising, youtube, celebrities etc. telling you that if you want to look pretty you can achieve it if you just put this and that on your face. The sad thing is that it's true (even if it is completely fake!), some people manage to totally change the way they look, but nothing can be done to cover an acne sufferers scabs and lumps and bumps :( .

Unfortunately I do tend to avoid going out now. When I was using BP and my skin wasn't so bad I just about managed going about my daily life like normal. I felt self-conscious most of the time, but I had really forgotten how bad it could be! I'm trying my best, I do have to go to Uni, interact with teachers and students in my class, but if I had the choice I would stay at home. Websites like Acne.org do make me feel better though because it helps to know you aren™t alone!

I don't think I've ever been harassed about my skin problem. I think I was my biggest offender. I just go out, avoid eye contact with people and if I do make eye contact just a little smirk and that's it. Usually people are really nice to me, and the ones that aren't I just shrug it off (after going at it with a punching bag) :P Its life some people are nice, some are mean. Its whatever. :)

Ha, yes I'm for real. Serious case of Body Dysmorphic Disorder here. I think I'm too afraid/ashamed of my looks to let anyone see me. I don't let my family look at me either. Sounds really nuts I know. Its frustrating because I had so many plans and goals in life. I guess most people on here feel the same way about that though - like weve got so much more potential than what our skin issues allow us to show.

I don't really :( I'm living off the money that I saved up for university when I was younger. Once that runs out, I'm stuck.

I don't really sad.png I'm living off the money that I saved up for university when I was younger. Once that runs out, I'm stuck.

I once heard a story of a guy who had mental issues similar to people here although not due to acne but hairloss. He had some stock thing that made him 20.000 Dollars and he had been living as a recluse for no less than twenty years, living off that money. I thought that was pretty amazing in the sense that I went "Wow... How is it possible?".

I've been thinking about working as a postman. As it doesn't really involve me sitting in an office surrounded by people which to me is reminiscent of that show "Big brother" except you get to go home in the evening and the weekend; it's not my thing.

I don't recall ever being harrassed by said individuals thankfully. I generally am an introverted person, it's apart of my character irrespective of acne I prefer my own company. Even when he skin isn't as bad I like to be alone, I'll social on the rare occasions and of course there is work. Unless it's mandatory I like to stay indoors or away from people.

I'm an ambivert. It's like this:

Well I'm not the only introvert around so I guess we'll all be left to desitute lol.

It's just the way I am but I'm very comfortable being introverted. The friends I socialise with (when I do) are some what similar to myself. Most people who know me understand my persona so they don't question me or judge me. I'm certainly not afraid to be social or walk up to someone and introduce myself or make an enquiry, it's more of a preference really. I never feel alone, I have family nearby, as a support network, as and when it's neccessary. I just choose when I want to interact that's all, of course, when I'm in a corporate environment I adapt to my co-workers which can be draining. I wouldn't change my characteristics though, it's what makes me unique!

I think it'd be kind of hard to be genuine extrovert as there will always be times when you're alone and just a moment ago I read this little article where they said that extroverted people "fade" when they're alone. Which doesn't sound too pleasant.

That's interesting that you have a job in the corporate world. I'm impressed. ^_^

The "judging" part reminds me of this other thing that that article I just mentioned said namely that in America (according to that article) the average person is a genuine extrovert. So shyness is seen as odd as extrovertedness (or extroversion?) is seen as "normal". Bit of a generalization, I'm sure, but I thought it was interesting. lol =]

Ok, I gotta go clean my house up! ^_^

The hardest part about being an introvert and working in a corporate environment is adaptation. There isn't the option to "switch off" or distance yourself, that's what I mean when I describe it as draining. I eventually want to start up my own business, not because of my introversion, it's something I've longed to do. Furthermore, my true potential shines best when I'm in control and working in solitude. That article what you've mentioned rings true, in my experience with extroverts, they tend to categorise anybody who isn't a socialite as "odd" "abnormal" "shy" or "boring". I've had my fair share of people judging me or describing me as "shy" lol I simply laugh it off.

On a side note, I try not to let acne destroy my dreams in terms of career. I try my best to be positive and it's helped me get this far, despite the horrid skin.

I believe this to be true.

I know a few people in my office where i work they just have to be around people ALL of the time. The second they are on their own they "fade" get very depressed.

Or they say things like "oh my boyfriend is away this weekend im going to be so lonely"

I'm like... THAT SOUNDS FRIGGING AWESOME, free house. When my girlfriend is away, pizza, xbox live, job done. I love it lol.

Yeah, how the correct balance is defined for different people differs. I like quiet nights at home from time to time. lol Like tonight I'm going to watch a late night movie (Lesbian vampire killers) on the BBC whilst sipping Fanta and I'm fine with it. lol

I don't wear makeup to school, at home, no where.
