How To Find Acne Cause

Hello:

My name is Matt. This is my first time posting in a blog of this kind, but I'm beginning to get frustrated with my acne and I was hoping you guys could help me. This really started when I had a concentrated acne blemish on my cheek that would never get better simply fluctuate from bad to worse. It started scarring and becoming fairly bad and cystic so I decided to go to the Dr. I was perscribed doxycycline and some phosphate lotion for my face. Thankfully the rash on my face cleared up and my skin was looking great. Once I got off the antibiotics though, mild acne started to spread pretty much on most of face. I went back to the Dr. to see if she could help me with it, but all she did was perscribe me more topical meds for my face and antibiotics again. I'm trying to figure out what is causing this widespread acne and how I can treat it without being prescribed antibiotics every time.

So the question really is, what kind of Dr. or tests can I have run to figure out what is causing this on my face? I really am looking more for a causation than a quick fix which I know will just cause me to break out worse after I get off the meds.

Holistic approach anyone recommend or possibly something to address food allergies? Thanks!

An allergy test seems appropriate. As well, considering you have done rounds of antibiotics taking probiotics or even trying a diet to restore your gut flora might be beneficial. Depending on your age, it might be hormonal and in that case you will out grow it at some point.

It could be hormonal, and you may NEVER outgrow it! I just starting taking Saw Palmetto last week, and am finally seeing some results!!! Based on some of the posts I read, I went with GNC's Standardized Saw Palmetto (a little pricey), and take 2 per day - 160mg each. I definitely think mine is hormonal, and related to DHT levels creating extra sebum, therefore unwanted ance, and oily skin. I've always had a very high sex drive, and just about 3 years ago, some thinning of my hair. I think all of this is definitely related, after doing some research on the net. Saw Palmetto is supposed to keep that DHT in check, but of course, there is no scientific evidence! Then why in the hell is everyone talking about it? It's supposed to work better for men than women.

There's a holistic forum here you should check out :) it's great for smart folk slike you attempting to find the CAUSE of acne, and know that the body has the potential to health from this awful disease without putting on the bandaid of chemicals. I've yet to find a perfect fix for me, but I'm a million times better :)

I have quite similar problem as Matt.. I wonder what is causing these acne on my face? i have searched thru this site, such as how to prevent, what's the ideal diet, etc.. I found that some of them I had done, such I do exercise four times a week, with only an hour a day, sleep not less than 8 hours, try to eat more veggies, but yes I sometimes just couldn't resist to eat dairy products and eggs, but it only happens once a week! I also wash my face twice a day, morning and night shower.. I had seen to doctor, not only one doctor, because I was so depressed with this acne, but still no result. Seen the doctor might reduce the problem, but not so long, once i don't go there, it'll spread all over my face (again) sad.png

I had tried several natural ways, such eating tomatoes (people say tomato is good for healing acne), wear honey and lemon juice as face mask, but still not showing any good results sad.png

Fyi, it's been 5 years I have suffered from acne..

What should I do guys? Could you all help me? sad.png
