In fact, according to National University of Ireland researcher Kevin Kavanagh, the bugs may be responsible for rosacea, a chronic skin disease estimated to effect between 5 and 20 percent of the world's population.

This is related to the lipid makeup in your sebum, ie a deficiency in linoleic acid. It makes the difference between people who are over sensitive and react to such things and people that don't. Actually, it applies to all mammals. They all have mites, but only some lose all their fur and scratch themselves to death.
