Endocrinologist For Men?

Recommended Posts

I am a 25 year old man and my acne has literally not changed since I was 14. It has never been severe but it goes from mild to moderate. I have tried every different regimen and cream and am getting pretty good results with Tazorac .1 now and BP in the morning. The issue is I am still getting acne and at this age that isn't acceptable for me. Plus it would be nice to finally be able to come off of using things like BP and other retinoids.

I have given diets a try for months at a time and it's just too much of a guessing game for me. It isn't really practical for me either always turning everyone down when they ask me to go out to eat or to get a few drinks. I know a lot of women here have used Spironolactone with great success. I hear that I can not take that though as a guy. Other people recommend Saw Palmetto but the sexual side effects scare me and I do not feel comfortable messing with my hormones without a doctor.

Basically I want to know if any guys here have seen an Endocrinologist for their adult acne or if Endocrinologists even treat acne in men? Thanks in advance.

I'm sure they exist, but endocrinologists themselves are rare and are usually booked out for months, and the chance that one would actually specialize in hormonal treatment in acne for men is very small. There are way more pressing hormonal disorders they can focus on.

If you want a doctor to work on this with you, by all means try an endo. Just letting you know what I've experienced.
