Vitamin E and accutane

Recommended Posts

Curious if anyone has supplemented with vitamin E while on accutane. I hear this helps reduce the side effects. Is this true and what side effects is it suppose to help with? Any other tips for reduction of side effects besides lip balms? My biggest concern is the dryness. Thanks!

Also, is cetaphil bar soap ok to use while on accutane? Ive been using it for awhile but don't know if i should switch to dove bar soap like the pamphlet the dermo gave me reccomends.

Yes it helps with dryness and seems to have helped lessen the reddening of my face.  I take 800IU a day.

Agreed, and also add 1 - 1000mg fish oil capsule 3 times a day and 1 - 1000mg evening primrose capsule 3 times per day. I take 1 of each with breakfast lunch and dinner. Water, water, and more water.

I heard usin Vitamin E with no fillers or preservatives is what I should do. And is 800mg a day the right dose? Also 3000mg of fish oil sounds a bit high. Should I try this amount?

That is what I take and it works great along with the Primrose oil. Hydrates skin and helps with inflamation.

Day 6 of Accutane, have been taking Vitamin E and Primrose oil...have had MINIMAL dryness...meaning that if I wasn't on accutane I probably wouldn't even have noticed and instead just put on some extra lip balm. I think its the supplements which are helping.
