Hi,i'm looking for people who can recommend a uk derm who peforms punch tecniques,in particular punch elevation,as i understand from my endless trawling of the net & this site in particular that punch elevation is the best option for deep boxcar scarring, which i have all over both my lower cheeks.I also have ice pick scars on both my upper cheeks but they dont bother me quite as much as the boxcars. The ice pick scars are from a fairly minor break-out i had when i was 18,but the boxcars are from a massive break-out i had 4-5 yrs ago at the age of 27! They have COMPLETELY DESTROYED my confidence,to the point where i dread the summer because any kind of lighting that hits my face shows them off in all their awful glory :( At around this time last yr,my gp referred me to the salford royal (i live in manchester) for co2 laser resurfacing.Well i had a test patch done just over 3 months ago & unlucky for me i know have an even bigger and longer inverted scar that i didnt have before in that particular area of my face! So their's no way i could risk having my whole face done.I was wondering if there's anyone here from the uk who has had co2 laser done under a general anesthetic? that was what the plan was for me,to have a GA. Anyway i'll be highly grateful for any help and advice that you guys might have for me.I'm so confused, frustrated and depressed right now as i dont know who to turn to for help. Thank's in advance :)

Did you have any luck with this? I tried a private clinic in Manchester but they were hopeless x

Hi,well i did manage to find a skin specialist in newcastle who seems to really know his stuff & he was very understanding & emailed me back straight away (dr langtry i think his name was) However after i emailed him a photo of my skin under harsh lighting he recommended that i get the co2 because punch procedures are best for people with extremely deep isolated scars.Ive now had two doctors tell me that mine are mainly superficial but the reason they look so bad is because there's alot of them and the scarring is wide spread

Anyway, the test patch seems to have improved alot since i last posted,& everyones telling me that the best thing for my scars is the traditional ablative co2 laser so i'm now still on the waiting list.Ive been waiting over 8 months so far,but at the end of the day im getting it done on NHS so cant grumble. In the meantime im gonna give dermaroller/derma-stamp &/or TCA cross a go,see if i have any luck with that. So which clinic in manchester did you go to? please dont tell me it was skin genesis? NEVER go there. They rob ppl blind by filling them with false hope that their treatments will help, but they havent got a clue about the treatment of pitted scars! avoid like the plague.~x~
