Fraxel Re:pair Part Cinq (5)

Recommended Posts

November 4 is D-Day for Fraxel Re:pair number 5. I guess I am turning into a veteran. I may go for a facelift in the spring and then yearly Re:pair tune-ups. I will request treatment at 70 mj - 60 % again.

You have no idea how curious I am to see your before/after pictures. Well, at least the re:pair seems to help. Wish you the very best in all your coming treatments!!!

I never post pictures because I never had any pictures that showed how severe the scars were so why post. Re:pair is the only thing I have done that has made a difference and that includes dermabrasion and regular CO2 and dermaroller.

P.S. If you can handle ablative fractional CO2 go big or else stay home. By big, I mean in the case of Re:Pair 70 mj-60%. There is no such thing as a "One and Done" either so ask your doctor about pricing for multiple treatments about 6 months apart. Expect at least 3 lasers. I have actually waited too long between treatments.

Sitting at about 80% after 4. It is cumulative and you will not be satisfied after one. My only regret is not doing them closer together, I have wasted valuable time.

Dudley, great to hear you are doing well. I see you have added a couple more re:pairs. I may go for my 2nd finally. It's been 2.5 years since the first :) I take it you do your entire face each time. Any negatives from any of the four treatments? Also curious, what are you looking for with the facelift?

Hi Since you have had several Fraxel Laser sessions. I wanted to know if you can give me some information on it. I believe Fraxel itself has 3 different treatments Fraxel Refine, Fraxel Restore,Fraxel Repair. For Deep Piited Acne Scars which is the one out of these that is more effective? I have deep pitted Acne scars so is 70mj the minimum preset/setting that has to be used for deep scars ? can 70mj preset be kept from the first treatment / session directly ?

Thanks

dudely it would be awesome to see how your face looks like now (no need for befores) since your scarring was bad (i think)

Augustya, I never say Fraxel alone because I believe Re:fine and Re:Store are pretty well useless for acne scars. Re:Pair is the only one that does any good and I don't know how well it does on icepick scars. 70mj is the maximum that doctors will go. This translates to 17.5 mj for DeepFX, which was the only thing comparable to Re:pair the last I heard. I have had no problems with my 4 Re:pairs.

Office Lase, I do the entire face and neck each time. I noticed my greatest improvement between the 1st and 2nd Re:Pair. I am older so I am looking at a facelift, nose job and hair transplants, and probably the eyes also.

TimeHealsAll, I have avoided cameras ever since I got acne at 13. I have huge self esteem issues that preclude me posting pictures until I look like George Clooney. My first wife was absolutely beautiful, and even that didn't soothe my ego. I even got heavy into Escorts to make myself feel better. Any little thing can depress me so that is why I advise the younger people to attack this full force and forget those useless over the counter fly by night remedies. Instead of buying that new car invest in your life. The car will be useless in 10 years, and they will still be dealing with acne scars. I will probably spend 40k in the next year, because that is what is important to me.

I equate the depth my scars before Re:Pair to Danielle's in this video http://www.youtube.com/user/DanielleOsti#p/u/7/KeIPBPlY3L0

Here is the old Laser Link-o-Rama thread, but some of the links are probably dead.

Yeah your right, i'm saving like crazy this year. I looked at danielle's video, at her final update i could still see her scars, did you get a better improvement then her? Also 70-80%, do ;you still get self conscious about your scars or is that going away?

Jacno, you will always be self conscious. You never forget, and you are never good enough. It is just like a person who loses a lot of weight, they always feel as if they are fat. I know a girl that has lost a lot of weight and she looks great, but she is always comparing herself to heavier girls, and she is thin. Remember what I said about multiple treatments, Danielle had good improvement after one laser, but she will need multiple lasers. I PM her every once in a while. Isn't she cute?

Dudley, it's your money and your life so more power to you. Cosmetic surgery is contagious. I am getting chin lipo on Friday. I think it will give me another boost of confidence since getting my fraxel re:pair. By the way, do they give you anesthesia before getting the laser? I had only numbing cream and it hurt like none other.

you make a good point, I'll remember that when i see a surgeon about multiple treatments. What scares me is that people say you have to wear spf for the rest of your life after doing a laser, which doesn't make sense. It could just be i read it on "real self" (website reviews), where mostly people who had bad experiences posted reviews. I don't understand how thats possible, i mean for the first couple months yeah, but for a lifetime? Oh and thanks for your posts dudley, I try very hard daily to keep faith that i can do something about this, and stuff like this helps.

Office Lase, I have admitted to myself what is important to me instead of what everybody else says is important. I am only going around once, and I don't crave boats or fancy cars. Life handed me shit, and I am trying to deal with it. They give me a cocktail of drugs where I don't feel anything.

Jacno, we had over 50 days of 100 degree days in Oklahoma and I only put sunscreen on my nose for my 2 mile walk every day. People live in a bubble, some by necessity, but a lot of them do it by choice. Re:pair is not for everybody, but your doctor should know more about your risks than an anonymous person on Real Self. There was one woman on there who kept bashing Re:pair, and I kept questioning her, and come to find out she had never had it done.

I am not a ladies man. I just happened to get very lucky when I was 18. I ended up marrying her twice and we are still friends. Like I said before I turned to Escorts this year just to soothe my ego, and I recommend that to anybody who has the cojones to do it. This is it for me - I have one shot, and one shot only. When I see somebody like Steven Jobs going down at 56 it just enforces my conviction to enjoy life while I still can.

Dudley it kind of worries me when you say that you are going to get all this plastic surgery all at once. You seem like such a rational guy, but if I was you I would be afraid that I would turn into a Michael Jackson or Heidi Montag like cautionary tale. It seems like so many people looked much better before they went under the knife. Fixing acne scars is one thing but changing your god given features is another. Just my two cents.

After Fraxel Re:pair my treated skin became a little more sun sensitive. You will regrow new skin after a laser treatment such as re:pair. The new skin will need to be protected with sunscreen. My fair skin always has been sun sensitive and you should be applying 15+ SPF everyday anyways to protect it. There are days where I forget to put on sunscreen where I just try to avoid too much sun while I am out and about. Also, right after having a laser treatment your skin is more likely to get "brown spots" if you spend a whole lot of the time in sun with no sunscreen. Just take care of your skin and you will be fine.

Dudley, i saw the photos of that girl who had similar scarring to you. Was yours exactly like hers, or did you have more scars?

How are your scars right now? I mean, who is it comparable to?

Joe, it is better if I stay away from religion topics because people wouldn't like what I have to say. The only thing I am thinking about changing is my nose. Everything else is age related.

Office Lase, I have experienced none of the complications of which you speak. Of course I have a medium skin tone.

TimHealsAll, I had more extensive scarring than Danielle. Obviously I am not satisfied yet. I am getting hair transplants in a couple of weeks, but the plastic surgery will wait until I get back to the weight I was at last year, and it looks like that will be 20k if I include the nose. They are talking about a 6th Re:Pair during the surgery. The total cost is actually coming down to less than I expected. I would say my results are a very muffled version of what you see on Danielle final results.

I just hope you are cautious and know what you are doing because it seems like some people have a tendency to go overboard with all that stuff. But I guess you don't notice all of the people who have had successful procedures because it just looks good.

Joe, except for rhinoplasty (which I haven't completely decided on yet) I am not really planning anything exotic. I am looking at only about 2000 hair grafts, and that is nothing compared to what some guys do. http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/ The face lift may be as much as 6 months down the road. Everything has been in the planning stages for years. I also have a grilfriend who may be doing a boob job at about the same time with the same doctor.
