Does 2% Salicylic Acid Exfoliate On Contact, Or Is It Time Released?

I'm asking because when I apply my 2% BHA acne lotion before bed, it doesn't tingle or burn or anything... but the next MORNING when I'm in the shower, I can feel it tingle/itch and then I know it's the BHA working. It seems odd to me though, that it would be time released. Can someone explain this? Much appreciated. :]

I've never really asked that question before. I'm sure your skin is just irritable in the morning and maybe it's because you shower in warm or hot water. I find that showering in cool water can calm redness and helps reduce irritation. Also do you use a harsh cleanser in the morning? That could be the cause of the stinging.
