Tca Peel - Neutralize Or Not?

Recommended Posts

Well TCA peels are self-neutralizing after 5 or so minutes and therefore don't "technically" need to be neutralized. But in my opinion (and in those sources who advise to neutralize..rhyme not intended lol) it's always better to be safe than sorry especially when it comes to the appearance of your face. So why not just do it and sleep easier at night?

I did a TCA cross on just the acne scars themselves with 100% TCA and did NOT need to neutralize, however, I did keep baking soda water near by in case the pain got unbearable or if the acid penetrated too deep. But if your putting TCA on your entire face I would definitely be careful, unlike other acids I have used it doesn't really seem to do much initially but causes some nice scabbing day or 2 later so I would not recommend an "aggressive" approach.

You don't need to neutralise. I do full-face 24% TCA chemical peels and I don't neutralise. I like to think it goes deeper and has more effect if you let it be.
