Skin Wasn't Oily Before Accutane. Now It Is?

Recommended Posts

So I am on my 7th day of accutane (40mg twice daily) and suddenly my skin is oily all the time, and yet flaky. I'm definitely experiencing the dry lips (don't go anywhere without my chapstick!) and I'm wondering if this is just my skin getting used to the accutane, or what? My skin wasn't oily before accutane, so it always surprises me when I look in the mirror and I'm all oily. I also don't know whether to wash or moisturize since my skin is oily AND flaky.

It's pretty common for your skin to get oilier before it gets drier, the same way it's common for your spots to flare up before they disappear. Don't be too concerned about it. Still cleanse and moisturize as you normally would. :) It will eventually "dry out" completely given your course goes well.
