Washing/Rinsing to Remove Excess Oil Makes it Worse?

Recommended Posts

Here's the thing: Your oily skin isn't the problem, it's a result of the problem, which is the overproduction of sebum. If you wash/rinse your face when you see or feel it getting oily, your only removing the oil that made it to the surface. As far as I know, this might result in the skin producing MORE oil to compensate for what you keep washing off, especially if using products that dry out the skin.

This isn't to say that products with BP or salicylic acid aren't helpful (although I personally have not had any success with either), but just don't use them more often than you should.
