Different types of Doxy?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I didn't realise it, but it appears I have been swapping between using "doxycycline monohydrate" and "doxycycline hydrochloride" pills, depending upon the pharmacy I use to fill my script. Each chemist just gives me the 'standard/cheapest' brand they have available.

My question is - has anyone noticed a difference between the effectiveness of these two products on their acne? They both say they are 'equivalent to 50mg doxycycline' and are from the same script, but surely with different ingredients they could potentially act as two different products?

Thanks.

My mother is prescribe HCL while I'm prescribed monohydrate (from the same doctor! ).

We've often swapped pills if one of us is out but our results are identical using other. As you said they are different, but our results seem to be the same.
