Pictures of my scars

Recommended Posts

So I thought I'd finally add some pics of my scars in good an bad lighting. Any advice would be appreciated. I've been on and off the boards a bit over the past 2 years. My story goes like this, I got pretty bad acne when I was about 12-13 and did nothing for years. I was a chronic picker I just couldn't help myself. Funnily enough this barely scarred except on the odd occassion when I picked at a scab and this left me with 3-4 box scars and that is all. Quite unnoticeable to most people. Eventually I went on anti biotics which my stupid doc fed me for years probably close to 2 years and just said to keep taking them. How rediculous is that?

Eventually I stopped taking them, it changed my actual acne from ones that fill up with puss, I don't know the correct term, to just blackheads huge blackheads and slightly raised, slightly red bumps which were very hard to get rid of in fact near impossible, I had to pick at them to have any chance of ridding myself of these which I did so as carefully as possible. Trouble was these now caused me to scar all over my face (beside the beard area). After 6-9 months of this I stopped the antibiotics in hope that my acne would atleast come back to normal but it didnt, they continued to come in the form of comedones (blackheads). 6 months on and I couldn't stand it, accutane had to be taken and it has cleared me up pretty nicely. I get the odd pimple from ingrown hairs shaving and occasionally blocked pores but appart from that I am reasonably clear.

Note the red lump circled in green is a scar or burst blood vessel also from picking. Don't pick your acne and don't trust any non specialist doctors, they don't know sh*t!

Sorry my Iphone camera is terrible quality and my skin is rather oily but shows enough to give you an idea of most of my scarring.

These past few days I've been feeling deeply depressed. More depressed than I've ever felt in years. I want to end it all but either I'm too scared or I know that there is light at the end of this very dark dark tunnel I've been traveling in, possibly a combination of both.

Dude, you have no scars. Can your skin texture be a bit better? Yeah, no doubt... but you have no scars. Use some retin-a, aha, moisturizer and sunscreen and you should be good.

I'm going to be investing a lot of time and money to achieve even 50% of the skin you have currently.

I am sorry to hear this mate, I truely am. I understand what scarring can do to you because I've been there and whether you can see them or not I know I have some degree of scarring. I don't trust retin-a for one second. Yes my skin texture is bad but the photos don't even show the full extent of that. If you say my skins not so bad shouldn't I be able to achieve near to perfection? Isn't that what we are ultimately here for I mean I see people with worse off scars then mine achieve better skin then me so why shouldn't I be able to?

I wish you all the best.

I think you're trying too hard to see imperfection. You're a guy..it adds to the rugged-nist save the perfect and flawless skin for the ladies...plus, I don't even see anything wrong with your skin.

I´m not sure if what you have is just big pores/scarred pores/maybe tiny icepick scars. It kind of looks like what I have on my cheeks. I wouldn´t call this actually acne scarring to be honest. Anyone with oily skin (mine is very oily too, especially since using Retin-A) will have larger pores, not much we can do about that.

NO SCARRING. HEAR THAT ?

NONE

You have some other form of depression or body dysmorphic disorder in which you'll keep finding faults with yourself.

Seriously. Go live a happy life and stop worrying about non existing problems.

(PS: Being harsh cause somebody needs to scream at you.)

I must agree, your issue may be more mental then anything else, you have almost zero scarring but your convinced your skin is a problem... Your overall texture could definitely be improved but it looks like it can be improved with a few changes diet, exercise, sunscreen, moisturizer... You have skin i can only dream of having... I wouldve loved to have been harsh to you myself for this post but the person above me took care of that... All in all, i hope you find the improvement you are looking for

Jeez guys. Be nice. In his mind he has scars there is no convincing him otherwise. Everybody is entitled to feel the way they feel. Acne is traumatizing.

And I agree with the lady above. I like men with a little scars. Like chris pine.... yum. ;)

The rolling scars are as shallow as they come but they arent my main concern. I have atleast 8-10 icepick scars which are skin colour now and whilst they don't stand out as much as when they were red, I would love to improve on them. I have a bad skin tone which I would love to improve on. I Don't understand why people are being so harsh though when I see other people posting on here with 1 scar and recently someone posted on here with 0 scars and flawless skin tone. Anyway thanks for all advice, I take it all on board and sorry if these pictures offended you, I realise my skin is better then a majority on this board.

you do have great skin compared to the vast majority of people on here, and that can make people appear bitter when someone with "flawless" skin seeks improvement.

I have some very shallow icepick scars that I treated with CROSS (100% TCA), and they are improving. My issue after my skin cleared up was the uneven skintone, and Retin-A (along with 15% TCA peels on the stubborn discolored areas) worked extremely well for me.

Your skin issues are very minor, I´d go the gentle route (chemical exfoliant, sunscreen, maybe Retin-A and/or chemical peels) and be happy about the improvement which you will get, it´ll just take a bit of time. And stop hoping for perfection, most people who´ve had acne will be left with some form of discoloration, scars or even just large pores. Poreless, eventoned, completely flawless skin is a very hard (if not impossible) to achieve goal unless you were born with it.

Try focus your sense of perfection on something else, like working out in the gym or some other skill you'd like to possess. You're born with a penis mate, you need to man up a little bit! You seem to have a solid facial structure, a little bit of rugged skin makes it perfect and don't forget ehh.. personality. Good luck ;)

YOUR SKIN IS MORE OR LESS THE SAME AS MINE. I HAVE A FEW MORE RED MARKS OR BURST BLOOD VESSELS FROM SQUEEZING A LOT WHEN I WAS YOUNGER! I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYBODY ELSE FEELS THE WAY I DO? I WILL LOOK IN ONE MIRROR AND MY SKIN WILL LOOK GREAT, MOVE TO ANOTHER MIRROR AND IT COULDNT LOOK WORSE! E.G. CAR MIRROR. I DONT KNOW WHAT ONE TO BELIEVE! IT AFFECTS MY CONFIDENCE IN A BIG WAY TO. I DONT LIKE GOING INTO SUPERMARKETS WHERE LIGHTS ARE VERY BRIGHT IT REALLY IS AFFECTING MY LIFE AND I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO CAN ANYBODY HELP??

Jimhouse- THAT ISN'T SCARRING. My wife had 2 dermabrassions and collagen injections, we're talking about scars from cystic/nodular acne. FYI, all dermabrassion was basically grinding off the top layer of skin, after freezing it, basically, with a diamond wheel. I'm sure they do it better now, but it does rejuvenate and smooth out even the worst scars, my wife subsequently needed a facelift, like 20 yrs later. The collagen does not last more than 6 months. The dermabrassion basically scabs the entire face, except around the eyes, it takes only about 4 weeks as I remember for it to come off, but you are in seclusion for a couple months, then pink, and no sunlight the rest of your life, because your pigment protection vs u/v is gone, so it's foundation makeup w/ ultra u/v protection and no exposure. I think the chem peel or some abrassion might be ok for some if you understand, as you get older, the recesses tend to again assert themselves, it's better to try accutane so you won't end up needing it, from my experience with wife of 38 yrs.

Minus the topical agent, some here had stellar results doing IPL/photofacial laser concerning the problems here. It's non ablative so doesn't involve long downtime as with ablative laser.

I mean this respectfully - but I do think you are potentially over focusing on something and creating anxiety and a problem for yourself that may be more emotional than physical.

Or maybe your pictures aren't telling the whole story?

dont know why everyones on your case. I have similar scarring to you.

shit affects my whole life.

Did you get all of your scars from picking?

Btw your forehead scars, are kind of similar to mine. I think the discoloration makes it look worse than the pittedness.

and btw, most peoples skin on this website IS NOT worse than yours. Trust me, i have seen people complain about acne, and have 2 pimples.

Most people who have acne, have great skin once they are over with the phase....

You crack me up. Weren't you the one going around denouncing others cause their scars weren't as bad as yours and often using profanity? I say people are giving reasonable advice not just giving rude comments as you demonstrated in the past. I hope you get your scars resolved as that would ease your frustration.

dood.. i never use profanity AGAINST SOMONE. i dont call someone bad words, its not the same.

I was denouncing other peoples acne (ones with a few pimples), not scars (only the few who complained about one scar, i think that guy who had the scar on the middle of his forehead).

i dont do that anymore though

Putting that guy with the middle forehead scar aside, I recalled another incident, mod later censored, of you using bad words but I'm glad you had a change of heart and can express yourself without those bad words. Thanks!

Thanks mate appreciate it I am lost as to why this is the case to I take everyones opinion in but honestly one of my rolling scars is quite long atleast 2 inches. My icepick scars are mixed in with the rolling ones while much of my scarring isnt deep deep, there is quite a bit of it in some areas making it more noticeable and not as mild as people first think. I did get most of mine from picking but this was mainly due to a change in acne. I started getting blackheads literally upto 4 millimetres in length and they probably went 5-6mm deep into my skin. I believe this was from taking antibiotics for to long. My forehead scars look worse because i have many small icepick scars and scarred pore like scars around the larger deeper ones, these forehead ones will be hardest to treat IMO. I also have pretty deep wrinkles on my forehead and I'm only 18(thanks accutane). I believe my skin looks aged atleast to that of a 35 year old, hell my dads almost 50 and his skins better then mine.

Currently just using BHA 2% on my skin see how that goes for a few months, hopefully it will even out skin tone a little.

i swear, it feels like me and you are similar people (minus skin color, and your skins better than mine).

Bro, take a look at my pictures, wE BOTH HAVE SIMILAR SKIN. your inneer cheeks (the area next to your nose) has white stuff. i DO NOT KNOW WAT THE FUCK THAT IS, but i have it too! i dont think those are scars, but its almost like a layer of dead skin that does not come off?

Bro, which antibiotics did you take, and how long did you take these antibiotics for?

I took a good look at your pictures, and you honestly have very similar skin to mine.

Shits depressing as hell, even though its a mild form. i DONT EVEN know if its acne scarring, but whatever it is, it sure as hell aint normal skin.

PM me if you get time, i want to ask you some questions bro.
