Question for SweetJade

Hi SweetJade....

In another forum, in a post which I cannot find, you mentioned an oil that you compared to fish oil, but stated that it is better? What is the name of this oil, so I can google it?

Thanks,

Scorpion

I'ts called Neptune Krill Oil.

When I did a search and , I found that VRP, Jarrow, Quality of Life Labs, Thorne, and Source Naturals were selling this. It's sold in 30 or 60 capsules, but the initial use requires 2 caps a day for 30 days. So far purchasing 2 bottles of Source Naturals here http://www.iherb.com/nko.html is the best buy.

Hope that helps ;-)

For those that are curious, yes there are several scientific journal articles on this as well, but here's a nice write up:

NKOâ„¢ Neptune Krill Oil

Supports a Healthy Heart, Joints and Other Body Systems

Eases PMS Symptoms in Women

• An advanced lipid extract of krill, tiny but hardy crustaceans that thrive in the harsh

Antarctic waters.

• First product of its kind to feature phospholipids specially integrated with omega-3 fatty acids.

This provides the building blocks of cell membranes in the ratios used by the body and is proposed

to be far better utilized than stand-alone phospholipid and omega-3 products.

• In preliminary human studies, Neptune Krill Oil supported healthy heart function, lipid levels,

blood sugar levels, energy production, athletic performance and liver function.

• NKO also effectively eased mild mood changes, cramps and swelling associated with PMS in a

preliminary human double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial.

• It is thought that phospholipids specially integrated with omega-3 fatty acids decrease cell membrane

prostaglandin production that can contribute to irritation.

• Remarkably stable due to high levels of the naturally occurring antioxidants astaxanthin and

vitamin A.

• Contains 100% pure krill oil manufactured by Neptune Technologies & Bioresources Inc.

Two softgels contain:

Neptune Krill Oilâ„¢ 1 g

Yielding:

Vitamin A 100 IU

Phospholipids, omega-3 enriched 400 mg

Omega-3 fatty acids, total 300 mg

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) 90 mg

Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) 150 mg

Omega-6 fatty acids, total 20 mg

Astaxanthin 1.5 mg

Among the 3 gram NKO group, total cholesterol dropped 17.9 percent, triglycerides fell 27.4 percent, LDL went down 22.8 percent, and HDL rose 36.4 percent. The cholesterol/HDL ratio improved 19.3 percent.10 Thus, even the 1.5 gram NKO dose was dramatically more effective in improving blood lipid profiles than the 3 gram/day fish oil dose.

Hey girl...

I bought this at Vitaminlife.com, but have not used it as of yet. I want to finish this bottle of fish oil before I start on the NKO. I will post on it soon enough. I'm really looking forward to trying it. smile.gif

Sounds good to me. I bought mine from TotalDiscountVitamins and they shipped my 60 caps and 3lbs of Xylitol the next day! Of course I don't have it yet but I'm betting it will be here on Monday or Tuesday =)
