can rubbing the skin cause scarring?

Guest Timehealsall

Is it possible that you can get scars from rubbing your skin vigorously? I am talking about rubbing it in areas where there are no zits or pimples. Is it possible?

Can't see that causing scarring. Rubbing doesn't equal digging.

It's possible you'll prolong the existence of red marks, but generally, skin eventually heals the same, whether it has a layer of dead skin cells/scabs on top or it's been rubbed raw. If you have the type of skin that will leave boxcar/rolling scars, you'll get them anyway.

Rereading your post, however, of course that's never going to cause scarring.

what you mean by "if you have the type of skin that causes boxcar/rolling scars, you will get them anwyways" So if my skin is prone to this type of scarring, rubbing extremely hard can cause it?

The reason i am asking is because i am currently on the acne.org regimen, and i have been getting INCREDBible amount of flaking on my nose, and cheeks and forehead. I use something called the jojoba oil exfoliation method to rub the flakes off, but sometimes you got to use force.

Also, i sometimes accidentally rub these crystal looking plugs off, is this bad? Its hard to tell which are plugs and which is dead skin.. i mean i even rub it off when applying BP or moisturizer.

one more question, but regarding blackheads. So lets say your blackheads are underneath the skin, would rubbing on top of them hard cause scarring?

hey sandman, what about rubbing blackheads. Like most of my blackheads are underneath my skin, and top of the blackheads, there is deaddish skin material (im on the acne.org regmen). I usually rub the dead skin off, but i was wondering if this can harm the blackheads as well?

thanks
