I just started usind Differin lotion 0.1% a couple of days ago, and I am peeling like crazy already. Is this normal? Also, what helps with getting rid of the dry, flaky skin?

try using less if you are peeling like crazy. some peeling might be normal. use a moisturizer like cerave or cetaphil to help with dryness problems after applying differin and allowing it to dry. personally i just apply lotion about 5-10 min after applying differin or else my skin will be feel too tight

Peeling is normal... and annoying to deal with. Definitely invest in a good moisturizer and use a gentle cleanser. My favorites are the Cerave moisturizing lotion and/or cream. But now that it's getting colder, I'm finding that my skin is drying out even more. I try to apply a thin layer of moisturizer immediately after washing my face otherwise my skin gets tight (this means I apply moisturizer before Differin at night).

maybe you should apply differin before moisturizer? might be more affective that way. if your skin is dry and tight just apply moisturizer right after differin... or maybe wait 3-5 minutes? this is exactly what I do.

I've been using Differin Lotion since January and am just now seeing results. I used to be on Dan Kern's regiment, but the dryness/redness was just too much to handle and never went away even after 9 months. Honestly, my face was a MESS after being on the regimen and I don't recommend it for sensitive skin.

The first month or so on Differin was rough and I broke out pretty badly, but never enough to stop using it. Also, I had very little issues with peeling, dryness or redness. I can see my skin tone getting more even and my acne is fading much quicker than before. My skin is far from perfect, but I can SEE noticeable changes in my skin. I always moisturize after I apply it (after waiting 20 mins) and add in a little jojoba oil if I have some lying around. My dermatologist told me to stick with it for at least 3 months before seeing noticeable results. I really think the lotion form is good for sensitive skin, but if you are having issues with dryness and redness and it's been over 3 or 4 months I would talk to your doctor.

Good luck.
