Spiro - How do I know if my cystic acne is horomonal?

Hello, I'm new. But not new to acne in the least. I've been wondering about Spiro for a while now. (I'm on 200mg of Doxy per day currently) but I've been taking Doxy like this for somewhere around 2 years now.

For some reason, my cystic acne, accompanied by regular acne too, likes to fool my dermatologist. When I go in for a visit my skin looks fine but before and after visits, hell breaks lose. I feel like its hardly tolerable anymore.

I'd really like to to try Spiro. I would LOVE a decrease in oil production (since my face is a constant oil slick) and I've read that it works well on cystic acne. But I'm wondering if mine is horomonal? I basically just get the cysts (they're not huge but they're noticable) not to mention a bit painful, all the time. Its no worse or no better at certian time of the month really. Do you think my derm would go for putting me on Spiro?
