Mackerel with Sunflower Oil

Recommended Posts

Mackerel are among the highest in omega 3s and very good to eat, provided they are the smaller species due to the build up in mercury in larger carniverous animals higher up in the food chain. You should be able to get it not packed in any oil.

I buy Jack Mackerel primarily for my cats, but I eat it fairly often. Tastes pretty much like tuna, but better due the higher omega 3s, lower mercury and more eco-friendly as the populations are more sustainable and supposedly they don't tend to be found among dolphins, turtles and whatever else tuna fishermen are always killing.
