Can Flaking skin make PIH go away?

I've had severe acne for 7 months now and have used doxycycline and it helped a lot. Now i only get the occasional 2 or 3 pimples a week, but the thing is, I have PIH spots all over my cheek, jaw line and a bit on my chin. Not just a few, but literally over a HUNDRED! all left from my severe acne.

I've only used 2.5% benozyl but this massive pimple popped up on my chin so I used my dad's 10% hoping it would go away quicker. I woke up in the morning to find that my whole chin area was flaking like craaaazy, so i just did an apricot scrub and it all went away, but I noticed that my chin looked more clear, and the red marks were less noticable.

If I were to rub the 10% over my jaw and cheek and let it flake like once a week or fortnight, would this get rid of the PIH quicker?

Are there any risks...

that big pimple on my chin is still here, so skipping to 10% does not work XD

Maybe it was the apricot scrub, not the flaking that made it look better?

Nah, I was using the scrub before and it wouldn't flake. I'm pretty sure it was the benozyl.

Interesting question, and I'd be interested in hearing what others have to say too. I've noticed the same thing for me when I use BP as well (a lot of flaking).
