Building a skin tolerance for peels..

Hi guys.

I'm noticing that my 55% lactic acid peels are not as effective as it was the first two times I've used it. I've been applying the peel every 7 days. So I'm thinking I should add glycolic acid into the regimen and perhaps switch between the two every other week? Will that work? Will my skin recognize the difference between glycolic and lactic? Or should I just back-off and take a little break so my skin temporaily drops its guard (maybe ten days or two weeks?) before applying a peel? what has been most effective for you guys?
