Hello,

So today at school a friend of mine said "your face looks like its getting better." I guess the thing that made me feel so uncomfortable was we were working in a group and right after she said that it got really quiet and i could feel every one looking at my face secretly making their own judgment of my skin also. I Just replied "yea" and i tried to changed the subject back to are assignment. I should be exited that my acne is clearing up and people are noticing and yet i still haven't gotten use to the idea that my skin will ever be "normal looking." Does anyone else feel that way?

Luckily I've never had friends mention my acne in a busy environment with others around, I can imagine how uncomfortable that would be!

I have, however, had my lttle cousin mention the 'red dots' on my face in front of the majority of my family. I myself don't really see the productiveness in discussing my acne with those who don't suffer from it therefore if someone brings it up I just act dispondent until they get the message.

OMG yea i know how you feel except i have a friend who will sometimes just start talking about my acne around a group of and its so embarrassing and hes just got perfect skin not one pimple and has never had one. Then ive got two cousins who are still young maybe around 8 or 9 who try tees me about it. All that stress probably isnt making my acne any better.

they are probably trying to be supportive in the best way they know how. from the way you said it, it does not sound in the slightest bit malicious

i used to get this a lot as well. and although i hated it because it reminded me of my face and reminded me that people are looking at it seeing what’s going on, and it brought attention to it - i knew that they had the best intentions. they were trying to make me feel better. just like if someone has a head injury and the stitches have been removed and its gradually healing up... the response 'i see your heads healing up now, looking much better', would probably be in the same context.

they don’t understand what it is like to have acne, so to them they cant see what drawing attention (even positive) to it is like for the person who has it, even if its healing.

just my onion anyway

for me, i'd appreciated the comment if my friend say to me when there are no one around, but me and that friend only. that would make me happy.

but if she say it in front of other people, seriously i feel like straggling that person, but i would just thanked her quietly, hopefully she wont mention it again and/or ask the what-do-you-use type of question.

What if it just worsens RIGHT after? That just sucks.
