I don't want to take accutane again and Doxy is not working so I figure this is the next best before tane. Do all doctors prescribe Bactrim for acne because I have heard some don't? Also, is bactrim really that good of an antibiotic? I have heard some great things about it.

Bactrim works great for me, and I have had no side-effects at all. For others though it's not only not worked for them, but the side-effects were terrible. It depends on the person. I say try it out, but if you get an allergic reaction, it may mean you can't take Sulfur drugs.

As far as I'm concerned, Bactrim should be reserved for life-threatening conditions. Read up on antibiotic resistant bacteria and MRSA and Bactrim.

You can say that about all acne medications, no?

Nope. Not all acne medications are effective against antibiotic resistant bacteria.

I realize but I would rather take it than accutane. And it is the only thing left. How long did it take before you saw results? I have heard that some people began to see them right away.

At least most of them

There are plenty of acne medications that can treat other diseases that are also used for acne. Doxycycline for example is also used to treat a variety of infections far more serious than acne. Can you become immune to it? Possibly, but I don't think that's always the case.
