Amnesteem no longer generic?

Recommended Posts

I just started Accutane (or amnesteem) today and while I was going to walgreens they said that my deem perscribed Amnesteem which was the brand name and all they had was Claravis. I later went to CVS to get amnesteem but I am confused, I thought that Accutane was off the market therefore making all others generic. But did they recently change amnesteem into brand name since Accutane is off the market? It doesn't matter as it was only $32 for me

Amnesteem (and Claravis and Sotret) is a brand, but what you call a "generic" brand, ie, a cheaper replica of the original "Accutane."

Your derm probably didn't put on your script that substitutions were okay, which is why they couldn't give it to you. If your script specified Amnesteem, without allowing for substitutions, they couldn't give you Claravis.

My derm always prescribed me Sotret, but I usually ended up with Claravis.
