deletethisshit 33 Posted July 19, 2010 Hey guys, just curious to know when your red marks look their best or their worst. Personally, I find it so hard to gauge their progress because I feel they can change on me dramatically any given day. Hopefully I'm not the only one, and hopefully with your help we can all figure out what causes them to look better or worse and what we can do to fix them. I find that my red marks look their... Worst: - Right after a shower (even if I use cold water) - Right after shaving... this seems to REALLY irritate them and makes them turn bright red for an extended period of time - A little while after washing my face - When it's really hot out - When I get nervous Best: - Usually right when a wake up (though not always) - After just splashing cold water on my face - Sometimes just late at night they look better (though my whole day is over at this point) What about you guys? Any input is appreciated.
sportsfan29 0 Posted July 19, 2010 (edited) Best -Right After Cold Shower Actually, sometimes right after a cold shower, it looks as if I don't have any marks at all. It's weird. Only a few are visible but they barely are...but then a few minutes later they start reappearing. This only happens a few times though...kind of an odd occurence. They definitely still look best right out of the shower though all the time. Worst -Exfoliation -As day goes on In between -After waking up -After washing face Edited July 19, 2010 by sportsfan29

Fraz_2010 18 Posted July 22, 2010 Hey guys, word of warning.... don't splash your skin with cold water and definitely don't shower in cold water either. This straps the natural oils from your skin which may make the red marks look better temporarily, but you are actually forcing your skin to produce more melanin which will make the marks look worse later on. (The same goes for hot water). One hard lesson i've learnt about red marks is... anything that makes the marks look better straight away, will make them look worser later on. And anything that makes the marks look worse straight away, will make them look better later on. I know that sounds weird, but keep reading... Things like showering in cold/hot water, drying out your skin, sitting out in the sun.... etc, will make your skin looks better temporarly, but if you've suffered from red marks as long as I have, then you'll know that these marks always come back with a vengeance. On the other hand..... Using luke warm water, moisturizing your skin, avoiding direct sunlight.... etc, will make your skin look red straight away, but over a period of time, your red marks will make steady/perminant improvements. Sorry, I know this wasn't what the topic was about, but I thought it would be an interesting thing to mention.
Gretzky99 0 Posted July 22, 2010 Worst: - after shower - after shaving - after washing face - during and slightly after exercise - anytime im sweating basically Best: - when i wake up - shortly after shaving - shortly after shower - as day goes on Obviously the kind of lighting plays a big role in how predominent my red marks are. If its a cloudy day they are really noticeable, if its sunny they aren't that noticeable and of course if its dark they aren't noticeable at all haha. buk 0 Posted July 22, 2010 (edited) Best: - When I wake up after a good nap/long night of sleep - About 1 hour after I wash my face and my skin dries - During the night, especially if the weather is cool - After taking deep breaths/meditating - After some exercise (weight training) Worst: - Right after washing my face - When I'm stressed or angry - If I spend too much time in sunlight - When I wake up and didn't get a good night's sleep Edited July 22, 2010 by buk
