Fillers worth it?

Recommended Posts

Ok I have some boxcar/rolling scars and it seems that all treatments take a long time to get any kind of results. Now where I live Restalyne perlane cost £300 and supposedly lasts 6 months-1 year. Yes when my scars stretch they are virtually unnoticeable unless you look ridiculously closely. So I was wondering if I get these injections will my skin look scar free? Or do they only provide minimal results? Thanks. :)

would be great if you could show some pics. as for the temp fillers - absolutely go for it. it probably would plump up the scars and make them unnoticable. unlike wrinkles, many scars are in places which are not constantly moving - so many people have found the temp fillers last a lot longer than originally expected. i hope it works out for u buddy ! :)

I had collagen injections years ago - they worked, but proved to be temporary. The newer fillers might last longer, but results do depend upon the skill of the doctor. You might first try subcision for your rolling scars. If it works for you, the results will be permanent.

is there any side effects for filler lainelynn?

I am getting it on the 19th. I think im getting restylane or juvaderm. doc said it should last around 9-12 months on scars and 6 months on fine wrinkles. It does work on boxcar scars becasue rubert (a guy from the org) did it for his. It basically works for all types of depressed scars EXCEPT icepick.

Right now I think I prefer doing a filler every 6 months and get ~75% improvement while waiting for an actual treatment that works rather than spending the same amount of money on lasers and other invasive treatments which wont give any noticable improvement and leave my skin raw, red and dry for months.

So.. is 75% improvement from say... Restylane realistic?

well.. the percentage of improvement depends on your doctor's skill level. dermal injection is like art. If the doctor is skilled enough to sculpt a perfect structure of your facial flaws ie. wrinkles scars from accident or acne... then he can do a good job, which may even be 90 percent. Also, it depends on your scars.. if its SUPER tethered down... (the ones that dont improve when you stretch your skin) those scars wont improve and can probably make your scars worst-'DONUT EFFECT': when the fillers migrates around your scars because it cannot get in the center due to fibrous tissue holding it down.

hope that helps. Find a doctor that has awards like " 2005 platinum award/gold award on technique for Restylane/juvaderm" etc etc. And be sure that doctor use dermal filler frequently on scars, not just wrinkles. I would say only 1 out of 5 derms know how to correctly inject dermal fillers for depressed scars.

Not really...that's the only thing. The depth of the scar was reduced but the shiny surface of it wasn't so you could still see it but it didn't look like a pitted scar.
