I've, like all of you, been doing a lot of research on Accutane. I'm trying to convince myself to take it. But, i can't, not just yet. It seems that doctors are prescribing tane a lot more freely now a days. don't you think? or maybe it's just me. but, i hear that a lot of people are taking tane with mild acne.

how can this be?

A responsible doctor will make sure you've tried antibiotics before trying accutane. When you have taken many courses of antibiotics and nothing else works then they will usually prescribe accutane. That's how it worked for us anyway. My daughter is 16 and when we went to the derm we told him that she's been on many antibiotics since age 12 as well as birth control pills and nothing is working anymore and he said " well, she needs accutane now". I think it's being prescribed now when other stuff doesn't work anymore.

It seems like it used to be "just for severe cystic acne".
