shiny/oily looking skin

Recommended Posts

Did anyone have shiny or oily looking skin while on accutane? My skin gets oily around my nose and looks shiny everywhere else.

I think you might need to moisturize because your skin is too dry and working at all its might to produce more oil. So moisturize more.

The shining could be from the skin being taut and dry. Definitely moisturize more. The nose is frequently the most oily part of the face, so that's pretty normal to still have an oily nose while on Accutane.

This is an old wives tale. Skin does not produce more oil when it is over-dryed.

However, it is possible that the OP's skin is shiny because it is dry and taut, as Wynne said, so moisturizing would be a good idea anyway.

It would also be helpful to know where the OP is in their course, and what dosage they are at.

When I got bumped up from 40 mg to 60 mg, I found that my skin got a little oily for a period - I attributed it to the increased dosage pushing every last bit out.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm on month 5, last three as 60mg. My skin doesn't feel dry overall, but I do still moisturize.
